📰 In the news
Hidden culinary gems revealed: A recent roundup names seven hole-in-the-wall New Mexico restaurants with outrageously delicious food, including Santa Fe favorite The Shed, loved for blue corn enchiladas, green chile stew, and margaritas — read the full list.
New face on the bench: Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has appointed Santa Fe attorney Todd A. Coberly to the First Judicial District Court, filling the seat of retiring Judge Shannon Broderick Bulman — read about his background.
Clean energy partnership advances: Earlier this month, Mozart Devco and Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative signed an MOU to plan offtake for a proposed 10 MW waste-to-energy facility at Ohkay Owingeh serving the regional grid — get all the details.
New clarity for beneficiaries: The New Mexico House passed a bill to boost pensions for families of first responders, clarifying eligibility and keeping firefighters’ service credit during workers’ comp leave. The measure awaits action — see what’s in the bill.
Gold & silver are hot: Coming off gold’s best year since 1979, the momentum is carrying well into 2026 with silver remaining one of the most talked-about assets. Curious why precious metals are back in focus? American Hartford Gold has a free guide that explains what’s happening and how people are approaching it today. It’s free – and definitely worth a read.
Compare rates for free: The national average for car insurance is around $175 per month. Paying more than that? Same, so I did some shopping around and ended up cutting my premium in half. If you haven’t checked in a while, you’re probably overpaying too — here’s the comparison tool I used.
Nothing prepares you for a pet emergency: I learned that the hard way after charging $10k to a credit card for life-saving surgery on my cat, Miss Stache. As soon as we got home, I signed up for Spot. It’s super affordable – and reimburses up to 90% of the bill.
*We do our best to avoid paywalled articles. If any slip through, let me know which ones and I’ll permanently remove them from our source list!
Highlights this week:

🫶 We got your back
New incentive for disability savers: NM STABLE extended its one-time $25 match through 2026 for New Mexicans with disabilities. The match applies to new accounts funded with at least $25. Savings for disability-related expenses will not affect Medicaid or SSI, and family, friends, or employers may contribute. Get all the details.
Grit on a rugged relic: La Bajada Challenge will take place on March 21, 2026. Riders will run individual timed trials on the historic Route 66 La Bajada Road off Forest Road 24. Open to dirt and dual-sport bikes, the course is steep and winding with 28 degree grades and 23 tight hairpins. Get all the details.
Farm-inspired, Santa Fe style: Radish & Rye serves locally minded plates from regional producers and a deep lineup of American whiskeys. It’s that just-fancy-enough spot for a midweek treat or an unhurried weekend, comforting and polished, with quiet pride in every ingredient’s origins.
Level up your kitchen: Whether you’re after a sharper chef’s knife, a trusty Dutch oven, or a wildcard gadget you never knew you needed, Las Cosas Kitchen Shoppe stocks trusted brands and a wide range of tools, plus hands-on classes… so Santa Fe cooks can sharpen skills as easily as blades.
What do people see when they search your name? Search results can surface past mistakes or outdated information that no longer reflects who you are. BetterReputation helps remove and clean up unwanted content so your online presence matches your real life today. Not worried about yourself? Doesn’t hurt to mention it to family or friends who might be.
Take control of your credit card debt: High interest can keep you stuck paying more than you need to. A balance transfer card with 0% intro APR until 2027 and no annual fee gives you time to pay down what you owe without interest working against you. By transferring your balance, more of your payment goes toward the principal so you can actually make a dent in what you owe.
