Hi Aspen, we made it to Thursday!Â
In todayâs fun-for-grown-ups edition: Trisha Yearwood, CSU’s wildfire model, and a Beatles tribute + plenty of reasons to put on real pants this week.
Todayâs sponsor, Spot Pet Insurance, is something I wish I had before a late-night emergency vet visit left me with a $10,000 credit card bill. Itâs cheaper than Netflix⊠and means you never have to choose between your pet and your savings. It takes less than 5 minutes to sign up â get started here.

đ° In the news
Regional ski history celebrated: âAspen Journey Past to Presentâ has won a Skade Award. Written by Coloradoâs Susan Dalton and edited by longtime Aspenite Judy Haas, the ceremony is April 10 in Snowbird — get all the details.
New research shapes response: CSU’s wildfire model is assessing risk across the Roaring Fork Valley to guide mitigation and evacuation plans, and a public survey is collecting input from Aspen and Snowmass residents — learn how you can help.
Parking enforcement stirs policy debate: Pitkin County deputies issued more than 50 citations for overstays at the Brush Creek Park and Ride, as county ownership and 24-hour limits spur commissioners to consider car camping policies — read the full story.
Gold & silver are hot: Coming off goldâs best year since 1979, the momentum is carrying well into 2026 with silver remaining one of the most talked-about assets. Curious why theyâre back in focus? American Hartford Gold has a free guide that explains whatâs happening and how people are approaching it today. Itâs free â and definitely worth a read.
Compare rates for free: The national average for car insurance is around $175/month. Paying more than that? Same, so I did some shopping around and ended up cutting my premium in half. If you haven’t checked in a while, you’re probably overpaying too — here’s the comparison tool I used.
Highlights this week:

đŸ One pet emergency can cost $10,000+
Together with our sponsor Spot Pet Insurance
Nothing prepares you for a late-night emergency at the vet. I learned that the hard way after charging $10k to a credit card for life-saving surgery on my cat, Miss Stache.
From the initial exam fee just to be seen, to x-rays, surgery, medication, and follow-up visits⊠the bill racks up fast (to say the least). And at that moment? Youâre not thinking about your savings, youâre just saying yes to whatever keeps them thriving.
As soon as we got home, I dug around online and ultimately signed up for Spot.
Itâs super affordable and reimburses up to 90% on qualified vet bills. It was too late for me, but itâs not too late for you. Sign up today.

𫶠We got your back
Burger + views, yes please: The wagyu double cheeseburger at Ajax Tavern meets a mountain of truffle fries for the ultimate post-ski or post-email reward… unfussy, satisfying, unmistakably Aspen. Think cozy patio, crisp air, and that just-right indulgence with a view.
Swap skis for skates: At Aspen Ice Garden, smooth ice, friendly locals, and plenty of glide space deliver that classic community-rink vibe. Itâs a mellow reset between powder days…a change of pace when you need a breather from the mountain, with easy laps and low-key charm that keeps spirits high.
Art break, anyone? Aspen Art Museum keeps creativity flowing with rotating contemporary exhibitions plus talks and community programs, perfect when your brain needs something brighter than another doomscroll. A quick gallery wander here can reset the vibe, sparking fresh perspective without the scroll-induced fog.
Access cash without selling your home: A reverse mortgage can help anyone over 62 cover everyday expenses, support healthcare needs, fund home improvements, or even reduce pressure on 401(k) withdrawals â all while staying in your home. Longbridge offers a free calculator to estimate how much flexibility your home could provide, with no commitment required.
