Art Across Time: The Chigi Palace Project
Interior design faculty members Anna Ruth Gatlin and Georges Fares present a collaborative exhibition that connects historic craft with contemporary digital media. Inspired by Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s designs for the Chigi Palace in Ariccia, Italy, where Auburn University’s College of Human Sciences has a campus, the team and the Phygital Design Lab reinterpret the palace through tactile and immersive works. Cross-stitched birds drawn from frescoes animate through augmented reality. Murals damaged during World War II are digitally restored and reimagined in 2D, 3D, and as 3D prints. A 3D printed bust of a Baroque pope offers a playful photo moment. The program opens with a short talk and continues as an interactive gallery experience that also highlights contributions from undergraduate research scholars.

Christopher Guest’s mockumentary flair shines in a folk music satire that recalls the spirit of This Is Spinal Tap. Some reviewers see the humor as gentler than in his other films, while folk fans recognize where the wit and bite truly land. Whether it is a first viewing or a return visit, repeat watches reveal jokes and details that may have been missed the first time from laughing.
