Spend five days immersed in quilting and sewing at River Rocks Landing Resort & Venue. The Bay Lodge will serve as the sewing hub, with shared cutting and ironing stations and design boards available throughout the room. There are 25 work tables available on a first come basis and they cannot be held in advance. The registration fee is $225 per person and includes five days of sewing at The Bay Lodge, a shop hop, an optional group quilt block project, games, door prizes, and a few surprises. A traditional group dinner is part of the retreat, and a spouse or guest may join that meal for an additional $20. All other meals are self planned. There is a restaurant in the park, and the itinerary will include suggestions for local restaurants and grocery stores. Lodging is arranged separately. Celebrate Walktober with a free stroller-friendly walk at Civitan Park that brings local moms together to get steps while raising awareness for breast cancer. Wearing pink is encouraged. In addition, a month-long Walktober Challenge, in partnership with @keepabreast, invites participants to set a daily step goal, stay on track, and earn chances to win prizes. This qualifier for the 2027 season features Air Retrieve and Hydro Dash using the latest NADD bumper. Event administration and the board will be open each day. Distance Jump cards have submission deadlines on Friday and Saturday, with an earlier cutoff on Sunday. Air Retrieve runs on Thursday and Saturday, with a limited block of 10 early entries and the remaining spots later in the day. Hydro Dash is offered on Wednesday and Friday in two sessions, with a single session on Sunday. Try-its are $15 and available in short windows and as space allows, while competition jumps take precedence. Preregistration and any edits or withdrawals must be completed by the posted deadlines, so please plan ahead to secure preferred slots and meet all requirements.

Safely dispose of sensitive documents at this free shred day in the Chamber parking lot. Attendees can bring up to three banker boxes or garbage bags of papers for on-site shredding. Be sure to remove binders, binder clips, and any other large items that could damage the shredders. Teens will dive into the world of art by studying well known artists and the key movements, styles, and media they worked with. Participants then apply what they learn by making original artwork. Designed for ages 13 to 19, with all materials provided.

Halloween Haul & Crawl VIII rolls into Cherokee Rock Village in Leesburg, Alabama, with Reefs RC as the title sponsor. The theme celebrates Classic Horror Movies, tipping the hat to legendary creatures like Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Over three days, attendees can explore the vendor area, hit the trails including a night run, visit the scale village, and take part in a show and shine that requires a trailer. Look for sponsored raffles and trophies, plus side challenges such as tug of war, Zig Zag Drags that also require a trailer, scale team challenges, rock bouncing, Table of Death, trailer lift, and Loaded Dice by Scale Mountain, with more activities to be announced. Weekend passes are the only ticket type and include all days of the event. Pricing options include an online pass, an online bundle that adds an event t-shirt, a t-shirt only option for extras and spectators, and a gate price for a weekend pass. Spectators may attend at no charge. Children of any age will need a ticket to participate in activities or raffles. Event shirts are exclusive to online preorder and must be picked up at the event, with no shipping available. Raffle drawings occur only on the final day and winners must be present to claim prizes. For safety, pets are not permitted in the scale village or any side event areas, though leashed pets are allowed elsewhere in the park and campgrounds.

First United Methodist Church of Gadsden is partnering with Sleep in Heavenly Peace for a community bed build focused on ensuring children in the Gadsden area have a bed of their own. The effort aims to assemble at least 100 beds and raise more than $25,000 to reach local kids in need. Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a national nonprofit with a Gadsden chapter, builds and delivers complete twin beds to children who do not have one. Build Day takes place at First United Methodist Church of Gadsden. Ways to participate include sponsoring a bed for $250, donating in any amount, providing new twin bed in a bag bedding sets, volunteering on the build team with sign up opening soon, or contributing refreshments or sponsorship support. Local businesses, churches, and families are encouraged to take part.

First UMC Gadsden partners with Sleep in Heavenly Peace to host a community bed build focused on giving children a safe place to sleep. The initiative aims to assemble 100 beds and raise $25,000 so children in the community do not have to sleep on the floor. Ways to contribute include sponsoring a bed for $250, donating any amount, volunteering on Build Day, and offering prayers for the families who will receive the beds. Opportunities are available for all ages, creating a meaningful, hands-on way to serve.

Pickin’ For A Cause offers a full day of community fun in support of Asbury Media Center. Enjoy live music along with a car, truck, and jeep show featuring $500 in cash and prize awards, plus vendors, shopping, and plenty of food options. Games and activities are planned for all ages, and admission is free for spectators. Proceeds help fund literacy, educational services, workforce development, youth programs, and community outreach.
