    Lake Guntersville 1-Fish Challenge

Lake Guntersville, Guntersville · verified Aug 23
    See details

Lake Guntersville hosts a one-fish challenge that rewards the single heaviest catch. Staged from Browns Creek at the Ballfields Boat Ramp, also known as the John Stewart, Jr. Ramp, the format is straightforward, no dead fish are eligible, and payout returns in full to participants. The pot goes to the angler with the top weight measured to the hundredth of a pound. Entry is $20 per angler, with the possibility of a $25 entry based on participant feedback. All participants must sign a liability waiver before competing. Boats may carry multiple anglers within United States Coast Guard capacity, and everyone on board must be entered. The honor system is in effect, so the fish weighed must be the one you personally caught. Forward-facing sonar, including technologies such as LiveScope, ActiveTarget, and Mega Live, is not permitted. Non-live 360 imaging remains allowed. Any forward-facing unit must be disconnected from power and removed from use before the start, and the associated transducer must be unplugged or disabled. If a unit can power on, it is not allowed. Violations result in disqualification. Guides and professional anglers are not eligible at the discretion of the tournament director. Weigh-in check in takes place at the tournament director’s boat near the green channel marker, and weighing begins once all participants are accounted for. Keep lanes and docks clear while waiting, do not use weigh bags, and bring your fish from the livewell to the director’s boat. Anglers may retain their fish after it is weighed. All applicable lake and state rules for largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass apply. Blast off details are announced from the director’s boat. Rule interpretation and enforcement are handled by the tournament director and alternate director, and all decisions are final. The event emphasizes fair competition, instincts, and time on the water in a simple, social setting on Lake Guntersville.
