Shannon Milliman - Poetry/Essay Reading/Performance
Shannon Milliman, Florence, Alabama’s inaugural poet laureate, shares a poetry and essay reading that highlights her work as a performance artist, poet, and storyteller. Her creative range spans essays, plays, and poetry, including the collection What If God Is? What If I Am? published by 7 Points Press. She has toured nationally with her original one-woman show Not So Supernova, bringing a candid and witty perspective to the jagged edges of motherhood. Raised in Alaska, shaped by the Pacific Northwest, and now embracing life in the South, she blends humor with haunting reflection, inviting listeners into moments where family, faith, and fleeting childhood memories uncover unexpected beauty. Expect a theatrical, lyrical experience delivered with wholehearted presence, treating poetry as something lived, not just read. Tickets are not required, and an RSVP is appreciated for planning.
