Learn to Swim In Weeks Not Years

Designed for infants and toddlers, this survival swimming program focuses on building essential water safety skills. The Aqua Baby Survival Program runs for five weeks, with 12 minute lessons held four days per week. By the end of the five week series, the program guarantees children will have self rescue skills for aquatic emergencies. Because 69 percent of drownings happen during unplanned swim times when children may be fully clothed, once core skills are in place instructors ask participants to practice one day in summer clothing and the next in winter clothing to confirm they can swim and float while dressed. Enrollment is limited. Instruction takes place at the Sahuarita Stingray Swim Team pool and the program is not affiliated with the team.

The route includes Room 242 at the Congress, a long gone hotel whose grim reputation led to its demolition, the site of a 1970 holiday party that reshaped fire codes statewide, and a train station tied to the violent finale of a Tombstone vendetta. CPACF in Green Valley hosts the Bad News Blues Band, a long-running group known for high-energy performances across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Turkey, Romania, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Moscow. Formed three decades ago, they have earned numerous local and regional honors, including multiple first place finishes in the Arizona Blues Shootout, which led to an appearance at an international blues and talent competition in Memphis presented by the Blues Foundation. The band holds a distinctive milestone as the first blues act added to the artist roster of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. All five members have been inducted into the Arizona Blues Hall of Fame, and the band itself was inducted in 2014. A creative day is divided into two parts. Presented by the Santa Cruz County Chapter of WeSERV, this 29th annual charity golf tournament features a four-person scramble that raises funds for the Real Wishes Foundation. Registration includes green fees, a golf cart, and lunch. Golfers can compete in Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, and Hole-in-One contests, with team awards and raffle prizes also planned.
