In the Hall of Earth Sciences on the first floor, educators lead the Fossil Cart with a Kinetic Sand activity that invites hands-on discovery. Explore authentic fossils through touch and close observation, then dig through kinetic sand to uncover playful replica pieces. Sensory Hours are especially welcoming for individuals with sensory sensitivities, including those on the autism spectrum or with sensory processing differences, and they are open to anyone who enjoys exploring at a relaxed pace. Each month, the education team offers changing, hands-on activities in different exhibit areas, ranging from tactile exploration to creative projects using natural materials connected to the museum’s collections. Admission is 10 dollars for adults, 8 dollars for military personnel or seniors, 7 dollars for students, and 5 dollars for children ages 6 to 12. Children five and under are free, and Museum Foundation members receive 50 percent off admission. Parking is free, and the museum is accessible for visitors with disabilities.
