Sensory Hours in November | Hall of History, History Cart

San Bernardino County Museum, 2024 Orange Tree Ln, Redlands
    See details

Sensory Hours offers a quieter way to explore the San Bernardino County Museum, and this month the focus at the Hall of History’s History Cart is a pinch pot activity. Museum educators will lead hands-on experiences inspired by Native American Heritage Month, such as shaping pinch pots, trying out seed crushing, and taking part in calming sensory play connected to traditional materials and cultural practices. During this time, lighting is dimmed and overall sound is lowered to support a comfortable, low-sensory visit. The environment is especially welcoming for individuals with sensory sensitivities, including those on the autism spectrum or with sensory processing differences, and it is open to anyone who prefers a relaxed pace. Each month the education team introduces fresh sensory activities in a different exhibit space, which may include tactile exploration, art projects, or opportunities to handle natural materials related to the museum’s collections. Activities change monthly and are designed to spark curiosity, discovery, and playful learning in a supportive setting. Admission is 10 dollars for adults, 8 dollars for military guests or seniors, 7 dollars for students, and 5 dollars for children ages 6 to 12. Children five and under are free. Museum Foundation members receive 50% off admission. Parking is free, and the museum is accessible to persons with disabilities.
