A hoof-care and equine biomechanics clinic at Concord Mt. Diablo Trail Ride Association focuses on investigating how and why techniques work, encouraging thoughtful questions, and collaborating with experienced professionals while keeping the horse’s results at the center. Expect in-depth conversations in the spirit of “Theory Meets Practice” sessions, paired with live demonstrations. The demo horses include an off-the-track Thoroughbred eventer with high-low hoof conformation and a Quarter Horse that competes in 1D barrels while managing chronic laminitis and navicular changes, a horse accustomed to deep sand arenas as well as hard packed clay and rocky California trails. Demonstrations will feature complete case workups, from assessment and review of radiographs to planning and applying an appropriate hoof-care package.

From Highway 4, exit Contra Loma Boulevard toward the hills, and look for the park off James Donlon Boulevard where Blyth Drive ends. Attendance is free. The park entrance on the right leads to a no-cost lot by the baseball field, while other nearby lots require a fee. For a smooth outing, keep leashes at 6 feet or shorter, skip retractable leads, bring waste bags, and ask before letting your dog greet another.
