Chico · Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., 1075 E 20th St

A Halloween-themed bluegrass night unfolds at Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. in Chico with AJ Lee & Blue Summit and Broken Compass Bluegrass. AJ Lee & Blue Summit, a virtuosic four-piece shaped by California’s festival circuit and early Santa Cruz gigs, deliver progressive picking and close-knit vocals. After two self-released albums, they partnered with Signature Sounds for City Of Glass, drew widespread praise, and secured slots at Telluride, MerleFest, High Sierra, and RockyGrass, where Rolling Stone noted their ease moving among bluegrass, country, western swing, and folk-rock with AJ Lee’s commanding voice at the core. Broken Compass Bluegrass brings Northern California roots and crisp arrangements from Kyle Ledson, Django Ruckrich, Mei Lin Heirendt, and Sam Jacobs. Formed in 2021, they have quickly reached stages such as MerleFest, High Sierra Music Festival, Strawberry Music Festival, WinterWonderGrass, and Bluegrass in La Roche in France, blending tradition with forward-looking acoustic energy. Together, these bands set the scene for a spirited night of live music, rich harmonies, and fleet-fingered instrumentals.

Living Deliberately: New Moon Women's Circle

Chico · Chico Holistic Wellness Center, 287 Rio Lindo Ave

At Chico Holistic Wellness Center in Chico, this New Moon women’s circle offers a sacred environment to explore intentional living, deep self-honesty, and personal healing. Each month features a cacao ceremony paired with astrology-aligned workshops that invite participants to connect with the heart, anchor into the present moment, and set clear intentions for the weeks ahead. Guided by Jaelyn of Celestial Sisters, the experience weaves ritual, meditation, and embodiment practices with education on cacao, including its traditions, how it interacts with the body, and what it can offer emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Attendees learn about the New Moon’s astrological themes and how to work with that energy for self-healing, empowerment, and manifestation, while building a sense of community with likeminded women. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing, bring a reusable mug, and, if they wish, an item for a shared altar or other personal ceremonial items such as crystals or oracle decks. Cacao is not psychoactive or impairing, though it may lower blood pressure and create stimulation. Anyone with low blood pressure, who is pregnant or breastfeeding, or who is taking antidepressant medication is asked to let Jaelyn know so a smaller serving can be offered if desired. The cost is $20. RSVP options include Eventbrite, Venmo @celestial-sisters, or paying at the door. Questions can be directed to jaelyn@celestial-sisters.com.
