Train alongside other dog owners in Roseville at an outdoor group obedience class that uses positive, reward-based methods to strengthen the bond between you and your pup. All experience levels are welcome, and the curriculum shifts from week to week to meet the needs of the dogs and handlers who attend. Core skills covered include sit, down, stay, stand, reliable recall, and attention exercises. Teams also practice polite greetings and calm behavior for petting, loose-leash walking, impulse control, and working around everyday distractions, with preparation for Canine Good Citizen skills woven in. Puppies under one year may test for the AKC STAR Puppy title after six total classes, which is a helpful step toward the CGC. The series costs $350 for six sessions and is led by instructor Aaron Wood with Aaron’s Pawsitive Coaching. Classes are held outdoors, so plan to dress for the weather. Participants are asked to keep dogs on leash at all times, skip attendance if a dog is in heat, and avoid harsh corrections as well as e-collars, prong or shock collars, and retractable leashes. Please give other teams plenty of space and plan for one adult handler per dog. Helpful items to bring include proof of current vaccinations with ID, high-value treats such as small pieces of cheese, chicken, hot dog, or Zuke’s, a standard 6 foot leash, a 15 to 20 foot long line for distance work, water for both person and dog, waste bags, and an optional chair. A patient, upbeat attitude will make training more successful. For more information, contact 916-413-9249 or aaron@apawsitivecoach.com. By RSVPing, participants agree to a liability release for Aaron’s Pawsitive Coaching, any event organizers, and the Cities of Rocklin or Roseville, and consent to photography or filming for promotional use without compensation.
