Straight Up Dubs returns with its 14th Volkswagen gathering, presented by Barney Jordan Plumbing, at the Lodi Grape Festival Grounds in Lodi, California for the third year in a row. The weekend begins with overnight VW camping that features an all-camp potluck where Straight Up Dubs hosts a hot dog barbecue, followed by a movie night under the stars. The following day centers on a Volkswagen-only car show and swap, welcoming models of every era, air cooled and water cooled, with no Audi, Porsche or BMW entries permitted. Parking is managed by event staff, saving spaces is not allowed, and groups that want to park together should arrive together. More than 40 awards will be handed out, most decided by participants with a few chosen by sponsors, and a kids Hot Wheels race adds extra fun. A raffle packed with prizes leads into the award presentations, and winners must have their ticket to claim prizes. Spectator admission is $5 for ages 13 and up, with free entry for children 12 and under. Pre-registration is offered online and at select Northern California VW events and is the only way to guarantee participation, with no refunds or transfers on registrations or pre-purchased items. A single-day pass for the show or swap is $30 in advance and $35 at the gate, while a two-day option that includes overnight VW camping plus show or swap is $60 in advance and $70 at the gate. Additional passengers age 13 and older are $5 each upon arrival. Event T-shirts can be pre-ordered for $25 and picked up at the show, and day-of payments are cash only. Camping takes place in an open field with restroom facilities but no showers or utility hook-ups. Open flames are not permitted, though small camp stoves are allowed. RVs, large trailers and big campers are not allowed; compact trailers such as Heilite or Eriba Puck styles are acceptable. Any make of vehicle may camp. Each paid camping admission covers one vehicle and one small trailer, and tents are welcome. Campers are encouraged to bring a dish for the potluck and their own beverages, label and collect their items afterward, and bring chairs or blankets for the movie. For camping or swap entries, the fee covers the car and driver, and anyone 13 or older is an additional $5. Vendors must be approved in advance and submit payment before the event, and there are no day-of approvals. Food and beverage vendors are already set, with Costa’s Finest Kettle Corn & More, Tacos El Grullense and Peachy’s Food to Go serving throughout the show. Dogs are welcome on a leash, and owners must clean up after their pets; those who do not follow the rules may be asked to leave without a refund. Windows of Imagination - Children's Art Show
Windows of Imagination is a public children’s art show focused on nurturing young creators through exploration and self-expression. It highlights the skills and imagination of local youth while strengthening connections with friends, families, and the broader community. Children from the Lodi area in grades 3 to 12 are invited to submit art pieces, with the option to use the idea of having a superpower as creative inspiration. Participation is free for students, and admission is free for attendees. Young artists may also take part in a workshop led by professional artists who provide instruction and guidance on preparing work for display and on developing both content and style. The show is a collaborative effort of Lodi Adopt-A-Child, Community Partnership for Families, and the Lodi Arts Foundation, organizations dedicated to supporting children, families, and the arts.

Friday Night Casting Session
Monthly casting instruction returns to Hutchins Street Square with free, public lessons that welcome all experience levels. Instructors offer FCSD Bronze and Silver coursework and can also tailor coaching to personal goals. Loaner rods and protective eyewear are available for use during the session. A signed 2026 liability waiver must be on file for every participant. If temperatures reach 100 degrees, the session will begin an hour later, so plan accordingly during the summer. Entry is checked by name and confirmation number, so paper tickets are not required. Children are not recommended, and anyone over age 8 needs their own ticket. Dogs are not allowed. Food trucks will be available, and guests may bring their own food for a picnic. Outside alcohol is prohibited, and coolers are inspected at the gate. Site fees are $30 for members, $40 for non-members, and free for attendees 17 and under. Driving directions: travel via Highway 99 toward Elk Grove. If approaching from the north, exit to Grant Line Road heading east. If coming from the south, use the Kammerer/Grant Line exit and turn left onto Grant Line Road going east. After about a mile, note a large warehouse painted in teal, white, and two shades of gray. Continue just past it and turn into the apparent parking area, then follow the SCA signs. Keep left onto the gravel road heading south, continue roughly a mile to the next SCA sign leading toward the event field, then proceed another half mile to reach the site. Updates will be provided as plans come together.

Rotary Elk Grove presents a Beef & Reef fundraiser at SES Hall Elk Grove, combining great food with opportunities to give back. The Billy Martini Show makes its debut at Miners Leap Winery as part of the Summer Under the Stars concert series. Guests may bring their own snacks and food, and food trucks will be on site, but outside alcohol is not permitted and coolers may be inspected. Downtown Lodi transforms into a sprawling marketplace when the Lodi Chamber of Commerce presents this bi-annual street faire. With more than 400 participants, it ranks among the largest gatherings of its kind in California.
