The Ugly Mug hosts Alyesha Wise, an award-winning poet, educator and speaker originally from Camden, New Jersey and now based in Los Angeles. She serves as Director of Programming for Street Poets, Inc., an organization that supports injustice-impacted youth through mentorship and arts programming. A recipient of a 2025 Los Angeles Preservation Award, she has appeared on OWN TV and BET and in the Los Angeles Times, Bustle, Afropunk, PBS and BuzzFeed. Her collaborations include the ACLU, The Shabazz Center, The Nantucket Project, Brave New Films and the Google Interstellar Project. Ron Howard has described her work as very powerful. Her latest poetry collection, My Older Brother, A Famous Rapper, was released in fall 2025 by El Martillo Press. There is a $5 cover fee, cash only. Outside food or drinks are not permitted. The Ugly MugPreschool Fitness - FUN Exercise Class!
Parents and little ones team up for a playful fitness session built just for children. The class follows a kid-friendly boot camp format that makes basic movement skills engaging. A ribbon cutting with the Orange Chamber recognizes the opening of Exer Urgent Care’s newest Orange location on South Main Street, situated within the city’s long-standing hub for medical services. This urgent care center provides immediate access to care for illnesses and injuries such as fevers, flu, infections, sprains, cuts, and suspected fractures. Imaging and other diagnostic testing are available on site, so many visits can be evaluated and treated in one stop. Appointments are unnecessary, hours are extended every day, and a broad range of major insurance plans is accepted.
Classic Country Week - Line Dance Thursday
Classic Country Week at THE RANCH Saloon honors National Day of the Cowboy with a full week dedicated to the songs and dance styles that defined the '80s, '90s, and early 2000s. Featuring guest author Helena Ku, this Storytime in the Galleries highlights Shoes off, Please, a story about Mina, who initially feels embarrassed by her family's practice of removing shoes at the door and then comes to appreciate its meaning. She also learns that her friends have special traditions in their homes, and together they create a friendly way to remind visitors about the no-shoes rule while honoring one another's customs. The reading takes place in the galleries and is followed by a simple art activity for kids. Admission is free. Set across 12 acres, the museum features buildings from the 1890s, a rose garden, citrus groves, a nature walk, a blacksmith, farmhouses, and the historic Kellogg House as a scenic backdrop. A spirited group ride links Carbon Canyon, Chino Hills, and the Azusa area with a relaxing break at Crystal Lake before returning to Orange County. Two meetup options are available, one in Orange and another in Azusa, so riders can choose the location that is most convenient. Use the Ticket option to access the RSVP system and confirm participation, there is no cost to do so. The route rolls from Orange through Carbon Canyon and Chino Hills to a second meetup in Azusa, then continues up the canyon, pauses at Crystal Lake, and wraps up back in Orange County. Proper riding gear is expected, including a jacket, pants, gloves, and boots, and leather gear is recommended. A safety meeting is required before departure and riders are asked to follow the guidance provided. Travel at a comfortable pace, do not pass on the right, and ride your own ride. A sweeper supports the group and stops are planned so everyone can regroup. Participants are encouraged to review group riding tips and hand signals in advance. Adding an in case of emergency contact to your phone or bike is requested. Participation is voluntary and at your own risk, and organizers are not liable for injury, loss, or damage.
