Israel Vibration performs at SLO Brew with Roots Radics and special guest Rastan. The vocal trio from 1970s Kingston, Jamaica is known for close harmonies, spirituality, and resilience. Founders Lascelle “Wiss” Bulgin, Cecil “Skelly” Spence, and Albert “Apple Gabriel” Craig met at the Mona Rehabilitation Clinic as children who had polio, then began singing in Kingston before their breakthrough with the single Why Worry. Their debut album The Same Song in 1978 and Unconquered People in 1980 brought wider attention, and they went on to share stages with Bob Marley and Dennis Brown. After a brief separation in the early 1980s, the group reunited and recorded extensively with RAS Records, touring worldwide with Roots Radics as their backing band. Themes of faith, perseverance, and social consciousness continue to shape their music. Admission is $35.00 and the show is open to all ages.

Works by Leonard Bernstein, Henry Mancini, Walter Murphy, Leroy Anderson, Rodgers and Hammerstein, and George Gershwin appear alongside tributes such as the Armed Forces Salute that now includes the United States Space Force theme, the Official West Point March, Victor Herbert’s March of the 22nd Regiment, and the overture to The High and the Mighty by Dimitri Tiomkin. John Philip Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever brings festive spirit, and a focal point is Igor Stravinsky’s seldom performed arrangement of The Star-Spangled Banner, written after the composer made California his home. Baritone Ralph Cato, soprano Thalia Moore, and cellist Megan Chartier are featured, with Chartier giving the Central Coast premiere of Victor Herbert’s Cello Concerto No. 2. Together these selections offer a welcoming celebration of American musical heritage and a sense of unity. OperaSLO was recently ranked first by the Tribune’s Best of the Central Coast for Arts & Cultural Events and Live Theater.

Parking on the 10th Fairway is included with the ticket. Tailgating is not allowed, and anyone consuming personal alcoholic beverages in the parking areas will be denied entry. All ticket holders must use the concert parking lot. Food and beverages will be available for purchase inside the venue. Outside food and drinks are not allowed. Free water will be available, and bottled water will be sold. Ice chests and picnic baskets are not permitted.

In Pismo Beach, the atmosphere evokes a mid-century Parisian jazz club as vintage swing fills a well loved dance floor. Headlining is San Lyon, an acclaimed swing jazz quartet from Los Angeles whose acoustic sound spans early 20th century Parisian gypsy swing and classic American standards. The group performs in both French and English, has attracted millions of online views, and has appeared at major festivals including Jazz Bash by the Bay in Monterey. The True Stories, a newly formed full swing band from SLO County led by trumpeter Andrew Chermak with vocals by Maria Luzuriaga, sets the tone with traditional jazz, tender ballads, and bright Latin influences. Gary Jules, recognized for “Mad World” from the Donnie Darko soundtrack, steps from the studio to the stage for this show.
