    Birding

Anderson · Coleman National Fish Hatchery, 24411 Coleman Fish Hatchery Rd

Explore birdlife at Coleman National Fish Hatchery on a relaxed walk of about 1.4 miles, roughly 2 to 2.5 kilometers. The route moves through hatchery grounds and out the west gate to the Battle Creek Salmon Trail, offering easy access around ponds and views along Battle Creek with stretches of rich riparian habitat. In good conditions, a variety of waterbirds, raptors, and passerines can be found across this 77-acre area. The visit falls in the middle of the fall salmon run, so increased activity is likely along the creek as large fish push upstream. Portable restrooms are available in the hatchery parking area. Bring water, snacks, insect repellent, and sun protection such as a hat or sunscreen. If rain forces a cancellation, the event will be rescheduled and updates will appear on the calendar listing.
