Falsettos

Falsettos presents a candid, compassionate portrait of a family in transition, following Marvin, his former wife, their son, his partner, and the community around them as they navigate responsibility, commitment, and what it means to truly be there for one another. The show blends sharp humor and vulnerable honesty with a heartfelt score, capturing moments of laughter alongside real ache as imperfect people choose love anyway. Set in the late 1970s and early 1980s as the AIDS crisis begins to unfold, the story becomes an intimate reflection on mortality, communal care, and the urgency of connection that still resonates today. It centers queer lives, challenges traditional ideas of family, and honors the courage to live authentically. By turns playful and shattering, it celebrates found kinship, resilience, and the transformative power of love.

At Irvine Improv, The Unteachables take the stage with a teacher-centric comedy showcase that blends sharp stand-up with a loose, anything-goes Q and A. Their credits include NBC, The Breakfast Club, The New York Post, and Roast Battle League.
