Building Brain-Healthy Habits

Everyday choices can support memory and thinking, and even small adjustments can lead to meaningful benefits over time. Presented by the Alzheimer’s Association, this program shares research-based guidance for nurturing brain health at any age. Participants learn practical approaches that include regular physical activity, nutritious eating, and other lifestyle habits that foster cognitive well-being. The session also guides attendees in developing a personalized plan of action so they can begin applying new habits right away, providing tools for proactive, lifelong brain health.

The presentation explores how communities, identities, and personal practices help people remain grounded, with perspectives that move from intimate reflections to wider views of collective resilience. Featured media range from ceramics to vivid scenes to written narratives. Participating artists include Ryan Achor, Shawnee Alexandra, James Barret, Jo Carol Ciborowski, Brody Dickson, Jeremiah Houck, Lilly Kuiper, Michael McCaul, Ava Neuharth, Chay Neumeyer, Riley Rhodes, Alivia Rosentrater, Senna Smoak, Jake Tahlier, Cecil Vardal, Megan Wilson, and Reily Yaekle. The exhibition is organized by ten students in the Museum Studies and Gallery Practices course, Gallery Management 1, led by Dr. Joy Armstrong at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, a class focused on developing hands-on skills for managing contemporary art galleries and exhibition programs.
