Santos Care Project

Museum staff share insights into an ongoing effort to preserve and digitize the museum’s collection of santos, artworks that depict saints and other sacred figures. The FAC oversees roughly 1,200 santos representing more than two centuries of practice, largely from southern Colorado and northern New Mexico. The program explains the methods used to digitize and protect these objects, and there is an opportunity to see pieces in collections storage that are not currently on display. It is included with museum admission. Capacity is limited, and reservations are recommended.

🎾 55+ SENIOR COMPETITIVE DUPR RESET LADDER SESSIONS🎾

Players 55 and older can take part in competitive DUPR Reset ladder sessions at Peak Pickleball designed to help establish an accurate new rating. Participants may rotate partners in a round robin format or compete as a fixed team while moving through courts using a one up, one down system that emphasizes rating integrity throughout the reset period. Each session features two rounds. In the first round, everyone plays three games with different partners, then players are ranked by performance and move courts accordingly. In the second round, players again play three games with new partners so each person pairs once with every court-mate. All results from both rounds are used to determine the session’s DUPR rating outcomes, and scores are uploaded directly to the DUPR platform through the Peak Pickleball Club software. To qualify for a DUPR reset, participants aim to complete eight verified games. To participate, join Peak Pickleball Club in the DUPR app, then register in the CourtReserve app under the Senior Play category by selecting the 55+ Senior DUPR Reset Session that matches the appropriate rating range.

Mending Generational Trauma through Sound

Explore the healing of intergenerational trauma through a restorative sound bath designed to support calm, connection, and resilience. Intergenerational trauma refers to emotional and psychological wounds that can be passed from one generation to the next, often arising in the aftermath of mass tragedies, family abuse, or systemic oppression. Research with survivors and their descendants has noted effects on epigenetic markers that regulate DNA activity, helping explain how inherited anxiety, vigilance, and worldviews can echo across families. During this gathering, soothing frequencies are used as a somatic practice to help the body and mind settle, release imprints of inherited pain, and cultivate a felt sense of safety and acceptance. The experience encourages open conversation without shame and supports reframing the past into a story of strength, growth, and care for future generations. A sound bath is a meditative immersion in resonant tones from instruments such as singing bowls, gongs, and chimes. Participants typically lie down and listen as brain waves shift into more relaxed or dreamlike states. The intention is deep rest, self inquiry, and relief from stress or anxiety while soothing the nervous system and reconnecting with the body. For comfort, bring a blanket or sheet to cover the cushioned floor mats and help keep them in good condition. An extra blanket and a pillow are welcome for added coziness. A yoga mat is not needed. Dress comfortably, bring water, and have a meal beforehand. Timely arrival supports a harmonious start for everyone, and doors open 7 minutes before the session begins. The session is $39 per person. It is facilitated by Gigi Turner, PsyD, who is available for up to an hour afterward to talk about anything that surfaced during the experience. If you have a serious medical condition, for example implanted metal, a brain injury, recent surgery, or epilepsy, obtain written permission from your doctor before attending, since strong vibrations may not be advisable for some conditions. Please inform Gigi about any condition in advance.

🌌🔥 WEDNESDAY WALK — MAY THE FLIGHT BE WITH YOU WEEK 3 “THE TRIALS.” 🔥🌌

Week 3 of Wednesday Walk, titled The Trials, brings a stripped-down disc golf focus at Cottonwood Creek Disc Golf Course. It is a chance to apply what has been learned so far and sharpen execution with fewer choices. The round uses a three-disc format, with each player declaring their discs before play begins and using only those for the entire round. The flow starts with check-in paired with the Crusader’s Challenge, followed by Faith Lane, an optional short, encouraging message led by Levi, an elder. The main round follows. There are optional side games, or simply play to get more reps. Stats, standings, and achievements are tracked. Players of every experience level are welcome, with an emphasis on skill over gear and a supportive, no-judgment atmosphere.

Classical Dressage Clinic | Steamboat Springs, CO

Cody brings classical, horse-centered education to riders who want to deepen their skills and results. This clinic offers focused, structured instruction that develops both the rider and the horse, both mentally and physically. Whether you are starting a young horse, refining advanced work, rebuilding confidence, or looking for greater clarity in your training, Cody meets each pair at their current level and provides a clear, systematic path forward. The approach is rooted in classical principles and biomechanics, emphasizing calm, straight, forward development, solid basics that support higher-level work, rider position, timing, feel, clear communication, effective aids, building strength without force, and long-term soundness and sustainability. Participants leave with more than new exercises. They gain understanding, a framework for progress, and practical tools they can put to use right away at home. Each session is focused and progressive, tailored to the individual horse and rider, which supports meaningful growth rather than quick fixes. Spots are limited to maintain quality instruction, early registration is recommended, and the hostess can provide details on riding or auditing.
