Explore the meeting point of ancient Tantra and contemporary psychology in a free, 90 minute, hands on session that also supports Maria’s Literary Foundation. Guided by Dr. Stacy Reuille-Dupont, the experience invites participants to work with the vibrant energies of Shakti, the steady witnessing awareness of Shiva, and the shadow, the human qualities and needs that often get pushed aside. Through somatic awareness, nervous system education, breath based practices, and a guided exercise to surface what has felt unwelcome, participants practice staying present with their experience, understanding the protective wisdom behind patterns, and creating space for conscious choice. Reflection on purpose, relationships, connection with nature, and everyday participation in life is woven throughout. The arc moves from feeling and energy, into meeting the shadow, into stabilizing awareness, then into embodied integration. No background in Tantra, yoga, meditation, psychology, or shadow work is required. Participants are encouraged to bring a journal and something to write with, along with openness and curiosity. In person capacity is limited, so advance booking through Studio B is required. If interest exceeds available spots, a virtual format may be considered. Donations to Maria’s Literary Foundation are welcome whether or not someone attends. Presented as an Embodied Gnosis Method experience within The Science and Art of Being Human.

This monthly poetry open mic is hosted by Larry from Durango. It takes place on the fourth Thursday of each month, except on holidays. People of all ages and experience levels are welcome to read their work or simply listen. Beverages and snacks are available for purchase.

Enjoy a free, open-to-all presentation in the CSWS Lyceum, Room 120, featuring Diné/Navajo artist Darby Raymond-Overstreet. She will share how historic weaving informs her digital practice, honoring the resilience of her ancestors and the homelands central to her work. The talk explores themes of identity and belonging, and the intertwined relationship among land, art, and people. A featured artist in the Center of Southwest Studies exhibition Constellations of Place, Darby works in digital collage and printmaking to create portraits, landscapes, and abstract forms inspired by traditional Diné textiles, with a special focus on works from the late 1800s through the 1950s. Born in Tuba City and raised in Flagstaff, she is an award-winning artist whose work has appeared in publications, art markets, and exhibitions including Horizons: Weaving Between the Lines with Dine Textiles at the Museum of Indian arts and Crafts in Santa Fe, The Force is With Our People at the Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff, and The Return of the Force at the Center of Southwest Studies. She holds bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Studio Art with honors from Dartmouth College and resides in Chimayó, New Mexico. Constellations of Place is supported by the Belonging Colorado initiative of The Denver Foundation and the Greater Good Science Center, in partnership with the America 250-Colorado 150 Southwest regional Power of Place initiative.

Presented by The Cookout, this community-centered harvest celebration spotlights music, makers, and culture while creating space for artists of color and Indigenous performers to share their voices. The lineup includes Tha Yoties, Levi Platero, Blessing Chimanga, The Boomroots Collective, Street Blues Family, Innastate, Def-i, DJ Nigey, DJ Beèso, and others. Alongside the performances, a curated makers market, local food and beer, and family-friendly activities invite children, organizers, first responders, and service workers to gather, celebrate, and be heard. Rooted in honoring the harvest, resilience, and the connections that hold communities together, the festival enters its fourth year as a living celebration in Mancos.
