Skull Cup VIII brings coaches together for a sanctioned C.O.B.B.R.A. Blood Bowl tournament presented by the local WEMBBL league of Colorado Springs, with results tracked and submitted to the NAF through the BBTM.App. The day features check-in, three Swiss-style resurrection rounds with a lunch break, and an awards presentation. Teams do not carry injuries between games. The opening round is drawn at random, then coaches are paired by ranking in later rounds while avoiding repeat matchups. The roster you start with is the one you will use all event long, and round time limits will be enforced with periodic updates to help keep games on pace. Pre registration is $20 and entry at the door is $25. Send your completed roster and your PayPal entry fee to winterhorse@yahoo.com. Questions about the tournament or payment can go to the same email. Coaches who need NAF membership can contact regional representative Steve Campbell at kilowoggy@gmail.com for a $5 sign up, or register on the NAF website ahead of time for $10. Coaches should arrive with a fully painted Blood Bowl team meeting a three color minimum, with players clearly marked for their positions. Third party models are welcome as long as positions are obvious. Bring three copies of your roster and include your NAF name and number, along with your blocking dice, templates, pitch, dugouts, and other accessories. Tournament D6 dice will be supplied, and those D6 must be used for any D6 rolls. Custom dice for this tournament are provided, and dice from previous editions may also be used. NAF 2025 rules will be in effect. There is no inducement phase, so the Disposable skill has no impact on rosters. There is no overtime. All NAF approved races are allowed, including Slann or Kislev if your models match. Journeymen, Special Play cards, Prayers to Nuffle, Mercenaries, Referees, and all Wizards are not permitted. Every roster must include at least 11 players before adding any star players, and the Highlander rule applies. Teams are built with 1.2 million, followed by an additional 180,000 for skill purchases. Primary skills cost 20,000, secondary skills cost 40,000, and elite skills such as Block, Dodge, Guard, and Mighty Blow add 10,000 more. You may not stack purchased skills, you may not buy more than three of the same skill, and there are no stat increases. The following star players are not allowed: Griff Oberwald, Hakflem Skuttlespike, Morg n Thorg, Bomber Dribblesnot, Jordell Freshbreeze, Hthark the Unstoppable, and Grak & Crumbleberry. Trophies include Champion, Runner Up, Stunty Cup, Most Brutal, Most Touchdowns, and a Last Place award titled Fugitive of Khorne, with round prizes available throughout the day and a prize structure designed to spread the wealth. Scoring awards 60 tournament points for a win, 30 for a tie, and 10 for a loss, with bonus points to be announced.

Spirits of the Harvest: Corn Dolly Witchcrafting

Panther's Gate Lil Witch, 432 W Fillmore St, Colorado Springs · verified Oct 11
    See details

As the harvest season winds down and Samhain approaches, a hands-on corn dolly workshop with Open Circle and Laurie of Ashes to Ashes Pop Up Shop focuses on craft, remembrance, and seasonal intention. Participants create a corn dolly while learning about the practice’s roots and the meanings carried into this time of year. The craft draws on European harvest customs, including those in Celtic regions, where the final stalks of grain were woven into figures or intricate shapes. In this tradition, the word corn refers to grains such as wheat, barley, or oats. Folklore holds that the last sheaf sheltered the spirit of the grain. Keeping a dolly through winter and returning it to the soil at planting symbolized gratitude, continuity, and hope for spring’s renewal. Samhain marks the shift from harvest to winter and is closely tied to remembrance. The workshop invites reflection on ancestors and loved ones who have passed, with the option to dedicate the finished dolly to someone meaningful and to place it on a remembrance altar or another special spot at home. Herbs are available to weave into each piece, including rosemary harvested for the gathering, a plant long associated with remembrance. Participants can choose botanicals that match personal intentions, whether honoring a loved one, expressing gratitude, seeking peace, or holding hope for the season ahead. The workshop is $25 per person and includes all materials, herbs for personalization, guided instruction from Laurie, and an introduction to the history, folklore, and significance of the craft. Everyone leaves with a handmade corn dolly, the know-how to make more, and a deeper connection to this enduring harvest tradition.

Inspired by Sanssouci, the name of Frederick the Great's residence and a French expression for living without worries, this concert offers a lighthearted window into the music of his court, family, and acquaintances. Parish House Baroque performs works by Frederick's sister Wilhelmine alongside pieces by Quantz, Bach, and Janitsch, with Jeffrey Smith featured on baroque violin and viola. Known for historically informed interpretations spanning the Renaissance through the early Classical era, the ensemble shares this repertoire with Colorado Springs audiences at The Peel House at First Lutheran in Colorado Springs.
