Intermediate Glass Workshop
Create your own glass artwork with supportive guidance in this intermediate-level workshop led by instructor Nell Trask. It is designed for participants who already have some experience. For glass fusing, completion of Beginning Fusing 101 is required, and for mosaic projects, completion of the mosaic project session is expected. If you can demonstrate prior glass cutting skills, the instructor may waive these prerequisites. Each session costs $35, with member rates available. Please register in advance.
Sangre de Cristo Arts & Conference CenterSummer Arts Academy
This week-long arts program welcomes middle and high school students in grades 6 through 12, ages 11 to 17, to build real creative skills in a supportive setting. Each session offers hands-on instruction across drawing, acrylic and watercolor painting, photography, ceramics, and fiber arts. Lessons build from day to day so participants can explore techniques, grow confidence, and complete projects they are proud of. Small class sizes and focused instruction provide personalized guidance while students learn alongside peers who share their interests. Morning and afternoon class options are available. Weekly rates range from $110 to $135, with member pricing offered. New students may opt for a one day trial session for $30, subject to availability, though a full week provides the most complete experience. Classes take place in the Helen Thatcher White galleries building, located to the right of the Buell Children’s Museum. For details, contact Michael Willard at 719-295-7200 ext. 7219.
Sangre de Cristo Arts & Conference CenterToddler Rock Music Class
An upbeat, hands-on music experience at the Buell Children's Museum introduces little learners to rhythm, songs, and simple instruments in a 30 minute session that may run a bit longer based on group participation. Designed for ages 18 months to 4 years, the class supports social growth through shared activities that encourage taking turns, sharing, and cooperating. Movement and music-based play help build coordination and other early motor skills. Instructor Chelle Jesse leads the activities while caregivers actively participate alongside their children, and for comfortable spacing a maximum of two adults per child is recommended. The cost is $12 per child, with member pricing applied in the cart when logged in. Class admission includes same-day access to the museum, with admission stickers available at the front desk.
