    Devon Gilfillian

Levitt Pavilion , 40 Jesup Rd, Westport · verified Jul 31
    Free

This free-ticket concert spotlights Devon Gilfillian and the spirit of Time Will Tell, his third studio album. Recorded at RCA Studio A in Nashville and tracked live to tape with many single-take vocals, the project took shape with longtime drummer and collaborator Jonathan Smalt, while Neal H Pogue, with credits alongside Tyler the Creator and OutKast, served as executive producer. The music leans into soul and threads in rock, funk, and country, opening up about mistakes, resilience, and gratitude. The performance channels hard-earned emotion and a grounded optimism that comes from moving through life’s highs and lows.

The Bridgeport Downtown Special Services District brings back the Downtown Bridgeport Farmers Market at McLevy Green, featuring farm-fresh produce, ready-to-eat dishes, artisan goods, live music, and hands-on art activities with cARTie, the art museum bus. The season opens with a cooking demonstration by Chef Raquel Rivera of A Pinch of Salt alongside performances by local musicians and a full lineup of local vendors. Each market day offers live music, occasional culinary demos with Chef Raquel and Deja Smith of Khemi’s Vegan Cuisine, and a range of vegetables and lunch options. Regular vendors include Killam & Bassette Farmstead, Betzy’s Latin Cuisine, Khemi’s Vegan Cuisine, and Natural Juice. Shoppers will also find artisan makers such as Destinie Designs, Kiffy Naturals, Rico Suave Accessories, and The She Shed. Community resources are on hand from the American Jobs Center, Bridgeport Public Library, the Fairfield County Coalition Voter Registration, Greater Bridgeport Transit and CTrides, Liberation Programs, and the Recovery Network of Programs. Depending on the week, special guests may include CONNECT-US, Norma Pfriem Breast Center, Southwestern Connecticut Agency on Aging, UI and Avangrid, and Jehovah’s Witness. To expand access to healthy food, the Bridgeport Bucks program, offered with the Bridgeport Farmers Market Collaborative, provides vouchers that can be used to buy fruits and vegetables at Bridgeport farmers markets. Businesses and organizations purchase these Bucks as incentives for clients, employees, or community groups. The market accepts SNAP EBT, WIC, and Farmers Market Nutrition Program checks for WIC and Senior recipients, along with Bridgeport Bucks, cash, credit, and debit. A matching incentive doubles SNAP spending on produce so that every dollar in SNAP benefits buys two dollars in fresh fruits and vegetables.
