504 Hazard Ave, Enfield · verified Oct 4
    See details

Meet in person at Powder Hollow Brewery in Enfield, CT for a relaxed speed dating night created for adults in the 45 to 59 crowd. The evening starts with an easygoing mixer where you can settle in and purchase a drink if you like, then moves into guided one-on-one rounds with light icebreakers. A host keeps the pace comfortable as you chat with each participant for a few minutes. After each conversation, you’ll note whether you felt a friend vibe, a date vibe, or no match, and mutual selections receive each other’s contact details the following day. Capacity is intentionally limited to keep conversations moving and ratios balanced. Ticket prices increase after the first 20 are sold, and may rise again as the event fills. Tickets are sold in advance through Eventbrite, and a waitlist opens there if the event sells out. The age range is a guideline rather than a rule. All ages and genders are welcome, and this information is not verified at check-in. Arriving a little early helps with smooth check-in and a timely start, and the focus is on enjoying real conversations that can lead to matches or simply new connections. For safety, the organizer does not screen participants or perform background checks. Use the same caution you would with any social meet-up, keep follow-up meetings in public places, and avoid sharing sensitive personal information. Participation is at your own risk, and by attending you agree to release the organizer, venue, and partners from liability. Events may be postponed or canceled if registrations are low, with a full refund or the option to transfer to another event. The refund policy offers a full refund at least one week before the event, no refunds or transfers within a week except that documented medical emergencies or a death in the family may qualify for a one-time refund. Some venues may not be fully accessible, so if you need specific accommodations, email sipsandsparksevents@gmail.com before purchasing. Photos or video may be taken for promotional use, and you can let the host know upon arrival if you prefer not to be photographed.

31st Anniversary Open Samhain Celebration & Drum Circle

Bradley Mountain Farm, 537 Shuttle Meadow Rd, Southington · verified Oct 9
    See details

Celebrate 31 years of Samhain at Bradley Mountain Farm with a family-friendly gathering that culminates in the largest drum circle of the year. Check in at the Tavern Room, where the grounds are level and easy to navigate, and on-site parking is managed by the farm with accommodations available for guests with disabilities when arranged ahead of time. Snacks are offered, and after check-in guests have the opportunity to feed the goats. A professional Celtic storyteller, Monica Peterson, shares three traditional tales, including a New Haven ghost story suitable for all ages. A hearty meal follows in the heated Tavern Room with tables and chairs for comfortable dining, and the Pavilion is reserved for additional space. Food is included, featuring wraps and subs with condiments on the side such as vegan hummus with avocado, tomato and Boston lettuce, turkey with cheddar, lettuce and tomato on a hard roll, and an Italian combination with mortadella, prosciutto, salami, provolone, lettuce and tomato. There is baked ziti without meat, a vegan Mediterranean pasta salad with tricolor pasta, grape tomatoes, black olives, capers, marinated mushrooms and artichokes, chickpeas, fresh basil, wine vinegar and olive oil with herbs and spices plus Daiya cheese, along with vegan herbed potato salad and Rev. Alicia’s vegan chili. Donuts, chips, coffee and cider are provided. Under the stars by the fire, a Samhain ritual with a Celtic focus is held in the Odyssean Wicca format with some liturgy. It is a shared rite rather than a performance, and no prior familiarity is required. Once within the circle, participants remain there and silence phones. Each person receives a small candle to light in remembrance of ancestors, loved ones or cherished pets, and may bring a brief note or letter to release into the central fire or into a cauldron if weather requires. After the rite, relax with more food and gather at the bonfire for a facilitated drum circle open to all experience levels. Attendees are encouraged to bring drums or other instruments, blankets and portable chairs, and extra instruments are available. If the weather is poor, the ritual moves under the Pavilion, and restrooms are available. Admission is by reservation only, with an early rate of $35 per adult and $7 per child, babies in arms free, a last-minute rate of $45 per adult and $10 per child, and an RSVP-at-the-gate option of $50 per adult and $15 per child, cash only. Additional contributions to help cover site costs are welcome, and volunteer options may be arranged for those experiencing financial hardship. Alcohol and substances are not permitted, dogs are not allowed, and there are no vendors. Nonperishable food donations for a shelter are gratefully accepted. Sponsored by Alicia’s SubRosa Magick.

    See details

Enjoy a foliage walk featuring sweeping views of the valley to the west. The route covers approximately two and a half miles with both uphill and downhill sections. Meet at the rear of Somers Town Hall to carpool to the site. On clear days, the lookout can reveal a broad panorama across the Connecticut River Valley that may include the Hartford skyline to the south, the Hanging Hills near Meriden, the Hublein Tower on the southwestern horizon, the Silo Nursery in Somers during the day, distant Mount Greylock beyond Springfield, and farther north the outlines of Mt. Tom and the Holyoke Range with the long buildings of Westover Airforce Base in front, plus far-off Vermont peaks on the horizon. Along an old tote road near the viewpoint, a massive boulder supports a living patchwork of small birches, grasses, sparse flowers, blackberry vines, poison ivy, and ferns, with a nearby oak gripping its side. Two clusters of unexplained pits sit close to the overlook, one across from the boulder and another along the yellow trail through a hemlock grove to the northeast, and their origin remains a mystery. The night begins with a casual mixer where attendees can settle in and purchase a drink, followed by guided rounds with light icebreakers. Events may be postponed or canceled if registrations are low, with either a refund or an option to transfer.
