Under the direction of Rae Johnson, this stage version of A Christmas Story brings Ralphie Parker’s holiday hopes to the theater. In the 1940s Midwest, nine-year-old Ralphie dreams of unwrapping a Red Ryder BB gun and makes his plea to his mom, his teacher, and even a department store Santa, only to be met with the same caution every time. Adapted for the stage by Philip Grecian, the production draws from the 1983 motion picture A Christmas Story from Turner Entertainment Co., distributed by Warner Bros., written by Jean Shepherd, Leigh Brown, and Bob Clark, as well as Jean Shepherd’s book In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash. The 5th annual Coats for Kids brings families together at Saint Sebastian Church Hall to distribute free winter gear for children and adults in need. Children should be there for proper sizing. A limited number of adult coats will be offered and any adult may participate, no parent status required. Participants and volunteers can warm up with soup and light refreshments. Donations of new or gently used winter wear are welcome through each council's parish, and monetary gifts may be mailed to Forest City Council 3, care of the Coats for Kids Chair at St. Sebastian Parish.
