Bobbi Baugh: Symbols & Storytelling | Museum of Art - DeLand

Explore an exhibition of textile collages by Bobbi Baugh at the Museum of Art - DeLand, where narrative art quilts unfold through vivid color, layered texture, and carefully crafted symbolism. Baugh blends hand printmaking, brushwork, photographic transfers, collage construction, and machine stitching to build compositions that speak to memory, dreams, and the stories we carry. Familiar images such as windows, childlike houses with surprising interiors like trees or water, and a returning figure of a young girl invite viewers to step into scenes of home and personal journey and consider how those experiences live on in recollection. Baugh studied at Stetson University and worked for three decades in commercial printing and stationery design before dedicating herself to a full-time studio practice. Since 2010 she has focused on textile art and collage. Her work has appeared in solo presentations at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum in Golden, Colorado and at Arts on Douglas Fine Art Gallery in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and she is a juried member of Studio Art Quilt Associates. Her quilts have been included in numerous juried and traveling exhibitions, with showings at venues such as Touchstone Gallery in Washington, D.C., LeMoyne Arts in Tallahassee, the Delaplaine in Maryland, Yeiser Art Center in Kentucky, the Ross Art Museum in Ohio, the Old Courthouse Arts Center in Illinois, the GWU National Textile Museum in Washington, D.C., and Florida CraftArt Gallery, along with extensive participation in Florida outdoor art festivals.

Artist Talk with Bobbi Baugh

Artist Bobbi Baugh presents a talk about her creative process and expressive art quilt practice. Working in textile collage, she investigates dreams, memories, and storytelling by layering handmade prints, direct painting, original photo transfers, collage methods, and machine stitching to create richly textured quilts. This mixed media approach becomes a language that brings narratives forward through texture, color, and imagery. Over time she has developed a personal visual vocabulary that opens into themes of home, individual journey, and memory. Recurring images include windows, childlike house forms, and natural elements such as trees and water woven into domestic settings, along with the repeated presence of a young girl. The presentation explores how these elements invite viewers into the quilts and the memories they hold. Admission is free for members, and the cost for future members is $10.

The Float: The Quiet Between

A floating sound bath and release ritual, The Float: The Quiet Between, centers on the hush before a new beginning. In the glow of a waning crescent moon, the evening emphasizes rest, release, and gentle renewal. It begins with a quiet pre-float moment of selecting a stone and contemplating a burden or story to set down, followed by a simple offering of those intentions to the water before settling into the pool. Once afloat, participants are guided through a soft meditation that eases the body and mind into the threshold between what has passed and what is emerging. The experience then unfolds into a floating sound bath with crystal singing bowls played by Ashley Bowman and Lisa Valerio. Throughout, both practitioners provide Reiki-infused energy work to encourage deep relaxation, reflection, and restoration. Plan for about 45 to 50 minutes in the water, light snacks and drinks, and a calm, supportive setting. Wear swim-friendly attire. Personal floats and towels are welcome, and both will also be available on site. You can step out of the water at any point if you feel chilly or want a break. This gathering takes place at a private residence in Deltona, Florida. The address will be shared after payment is received. The cost is $60 per person and advance payment is required to hold a spot, with Cash App or an invoice available upon request. Capacity is limited. Power Animal Pathways A Guided Shamanic Journey with Ashley Bowman

At Regeneration Massage & Wellness Studio in Orange City, Ashley Bowman leads a gentle, beginner-friendly shamanic journey focused on meeting a power animal ally. With steady drumming, guided visualization, and clear intention, participants step beyond the ordinary to connect with inner wisdom and supportive guides that can offer protection, healing, and perspective. All levels are welcome. There is no single right way to receive insight. Some may notice imagery, others may feel emotions or physical sensations, and some may simply leave with a steady sense of knowing. After the journey, there is time for personal reflection, optional sharing, and exploration of any symbols or messages that surfaced. Insights often arrive quietly through animals, symbols, memories, feelings, and intuition. Please bring a yoga mat, blanket or pillow for comfort, a journal and pen, water, and an open heart. The cost is $40, and prepayment is required to secure a spot since space is limited.
