FREE Puppy Training Class

This free group dog training class focuses on everyday manners and obedience. Participants will work on heel, come, sit, stay, and lie down, along with guidance for reducing barking and jumping. The organizers have experience with more than a thousand dogs and created this class to support the public. Please bring a leash and collar, a waste bag, treats or a favorite toy, and your dog with health records. Dogs that show aggression must wear a muzzle, and everyone is expected to be responsible and considerate of others. Expect a constructive and enjoyable session.

Homeschool Ballet classes! Intermediate/Advanced level

Pour Your Own Epoxy

This hands-on epoxy workshop at Tienda Studio in Lakeland, FL guides participants in creating a custom piece such as an epoxy river charcuterie board, a lazy susan, a clock, a key holder shelf, coasters, or a mini pair. Work with select black walnut and other quality hardwoods, then choose up to two epoxy colors upon arrival to personalize your project. After class, each piece cures for about a week before entering a detailed finishing stage that typically takes 8 to 10 weeks, with overall timing dependent on class size and shipping. When complete, the finished item is shipped to you in excellent condition. All sales are final. If you cannot attend, you may send someone in your place. Participants age 12 and older need their own ticket, and a couples ticket allows two people to collaborate on one project.

Friday Night Game Night

Spend three hours enjoying board games at Sports For The ONE, a night open to everyone. Snacks are available and a wide range of play is on the table, including strategy, party, and card games, with lots of older players eager to jump in. Child care is not provided. Many participants bring tween-aged children, and children under 12 must stay with their parents. This gathering is held many Friday nights at the sports complex.

A Magic draft league themed around Secrets of Strixhaven invites players to compete in three best-of-three matches, with 55 minutes allotted for each match. Each match win earns one prize ticket, and tickets can be redeemed for a range of booster packs after the event. League scoring grants three points for attending an event and one point per match win, with extra prizes available at 10 and 20 total league points. The entry fee is $25 for each draft event.

PAC Card Show

Project E.A.G.L.E. 2026

An annual cleanup at Lake Shipp Park brings the community together to care for the Chain of Lakes and the surrounding Winter Haven area. Volunteers are welcome, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or authorized adult. Activities include prizes for the largest group and the most unusual find, along with a free tree giveaway in celebration of Earth Day. Registered volunteers receive lunch and cleanup supplies while supplies last.

Dynamic Balance - Yoga in Symphony

Experience a serene blend of movement and music at the Ashley Gibson Barnett Museum of Art. This yoga and meditation session is guided by Jana Whiddon, owner of Yoga Pointe, with live, improvised accompaniment by LSO violinist Christine Collister. Come see FABULOUS FELINES at our Tampa Area cat show! 😻𓃠🐈

This family friendly cat show in the Tampa area takes place at TECO Expo Hall and offers activities for all ages. Guests can watch cats and kittens vie for Best in Show across five judging rings each day, with each ring operating as its own show and judges evaluating in person. A costume contest will be held each day for cats entered in the show. Several rescue groups will be onsite with adoptable cats. A marketplace features cat themed items for pets and people. Jasper the Big A$$ Maine Coon and A Cat Named Peak will be at the show. Tickets are available online or at the door, with admission set at $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 60 plus, first responders, and active military, $8 for children ages 5 to 12, and free for children under 5. Parking is free.

STEM in the Park

STEM in the Park celebrates National DNA Day with hands-on science at the GiveWell Community Foundation Nature Center. Participants can fold a paper model of the double helix, examine their own fingerprints, and explore lifelike DNA models. Take part in experiments with Philanthrolab, including strawberry DNA extraction. Admission is free, and activities are open to all ages with adult supervision.

Group Hike April 25th

Take on a 4.7 mile group hike at Circle B Bar Reserve at a relaxed pace of about 25 minutes per mile, allowing plenty of time for conversation. Expect roughly two hours on the trail, then a brief 15 minute cool down conversation. The path alternates between open stretches and shaded canopy, offers scenic views, and includes a bridge crossing. Wear clothing that protects from sun and bugs. Bring ample water, including some frozen bottles to keep things cold. If you use a hydration bladder, fill it with ice and carry extra water to refill later. Pack snacks that are easy to eat on the move or during short breaks. A small daypack, hat or bandanna, sunglasses, sunscreen, and bug spray are helpful. Alligators are present and portions of the trail follow the water, so stay aware near the shoreline.

Guided Meditation

Settle into a calming guided meditation focused on mindfulness and inner peace. Participants may bring a roll mat, blanket, and eye mask, or use the complimentary items provided to create a comfortable space. Ceremonial cacao will be available to enrich the experience and encourage reflection and a deeper connection within. Expect a serene setting that supports quiet presence and gentle awareness.

DFD RC Club Race - Dirt Oval Racing

A club race focused on dirt oval action welcomes racers and spectators alike. Spectating is free, while race entry is $20 for the first class and $10 for each additional class. 7 Rivers Water Festival: Cardboard Boat Race

Part of the 7 Rivers Water Festival, this team challenge puts homemade cardboard boats to the test on a looped paddle course. The festival highlights lakes, rivers, and the underground source of drinking water, and this race is one of its family friendly attractions. The action takes place at Martin Luther King Jr Park. Teams build a craft primarily from cardboard and duct tape, then two paddlers launch from the beach, circle the ski jump, and return to shore. Prizes are offered in adult, 18 and older, and youth, under 18, divisions. Awards include the Swift Dinghy for the fastest finish, the Gene Leedy for most creative design, and the Titanic for the most spectacular sinking. Any group can participate, including families and friends. Entry requires a $25 fee and a signed liability waiver. Each team must supply two pilots for the race, while any number of helpers may assist with design and construction. Adults may help youth teams build, but both pilots must be under 18 to compete in the youth division. Space is limited to ten teams per division and registration is first come, first served. Pilots must wear a Type I, II, or III personal flotation device. Teams are encouraged to bring their own, and event staff can provide PFDs if requested ahead of time. Boats and paddles must be built by the team and made mostly of cardboard. Materials that boost buoyancy, including rubber, foam, inflatables, or wood, are not allowed. Duct tape, glue, and contact cement may join pieces, but waterproof coatings on the underside are prohibited, and motors are not permitted. One week before the festival, each team receives a kit with four 4 by 8 foot sheets of cardboard, three rolls of duct tape, a ruler, a utility knife, and two pencils. Extra supplies may be purchased for construction or decoration, and creative themes are welcome as long as designs avoid offensive, political, or inflammatory content. Event staff may disqualify teams that violate the rules, which can include forfeiting the entry fee and possible bans from future events.

For grades 3 and 4, History and Future of Flight unfolds in the Florida Air Museum and the Aviation Playground. Aircraft, exhibits, and interactive displays are paired with 24 hands-on learning stations in a playground arranged like an airport with taxiways and runways, along with seating for adults and large shade structures. For grades 5 and 6, Flying Fundamentals in the Redbird Flight Simulation Lab uses simulators to demonstrate the aerodynamics that keep an airplane straight and level and highlights the industry’s need for nearly 300,000 new pilots over the next decade. Both experiences align with Florida education standards. The day continues at the Pavilion with a paper airplane competition hosted by Busy Bee. Each student receives a goody bag that includes a pilot license, paper airplane supplies, and additional items provided by Busy Bee, along with a completion certificate. Tickets are $25 per student participant or 125 Bee Bucks, and $10 per participating chaperone or 50 Bee Bucks. Capacity is limited to 20 student tickets and 2 participating chaperone tickets. Set at YMCA of West Central Florida with a course along Lakeland’s Three Parks Trail, this chip timed 5K honors fallen heroes while raising funds for the Lakeland Police Foundation. The event supports officers and members of the Lakeland Police Department during hardship and crisis and also helps provide scholarships and educational opportunities. Pokemon League Challenge - May 2026
