Rollin' With My Gnomies Board Games & CafePond Management & Agritourism
Explore practical pond stewardship and agritourism planning in a class that focuses on what to grow, what to manage, and how to build a healthy aquatic ecosystem. Topics include identifying native versus invasive aquatic plants and fish, choosing species to encourage, and strategies for controlling those that require management. Participants will learn how macroinvertebrates and other wildlife signal water quality, review the distinct zones along a pond bank and the plants suited for each, and see how to propagate wax myrtle from cuttings. The session shares UF/IFAS guidance on pond management, invasive plant control, and available Extension resources. It also covers ways to incorporate a fishing or recreational pond into an agritourism operation, with general recommendations tailored to northeast Florida. Light refreshments will be available, and the fee to attend is $10. For disability accommodations such as alternate formats of written material, contact Dave Hébert at DAVID.HEBERT@UFL.EDU or 904-530-6356 at least one week in advance.
