Tap Into Theater Academy: Mary Poppins Jr.

Tap Into Theater Academy presents a tap-powered youth production of Mary Poppins Jr., inspired by the books by P. L. Travers and the classic Disney film. It reflects the stage version by Cameron Mackintosh that ran for more than 2,500 performances on Broadway and received nominations for nine Olivier and seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The story travels to London in 1910, where the Banks family seeks a nanny with demanding qualifications and meets Mary Poppins, who surpasses their list in unexpected ways. Through a blend of caring guidance, clear structure, and a dash of magic, she helps them reconnect with one another and with their community before moving on to help the next family. Familiar songs and theatrical surprises underscore themes of family, growth, and discovery, suggesting that remarkable things can happen when you allow them to. Tap Into Theater Academy follows a pre-professional training approach for young performers, with a special focus on tap. The program produces musicals and offers technique classes and private lessons, encouraging participants to develop skills alongside teamwork, self-awareness, and empathy that support future success.

PURITY RING

A stop on the Place of My Own Tour from AEG Presents features Purity Ring at The Plaza Live. This event is open to all ages. The duo’s new self-titled fourth album is built as the soundtrack to an imagined role playing game, drawing inspiration from titles like Nier Automata and Final Fantasy X. Its narrative follows two counterparts of Megan James and Corin Roddick as they set out to shape a gentler world among the remnants of a fallen one. The sound blends radiant, otherworldly textures from vintage digital synths, classical guitar, pan flutes, breakbeats, and spectral vocoders, while James explores a broader range of vocal deliveries with a lively, free flowing stream of words. It is their first self-released, self-titled LP and presents an expansive vision that reflects where they are now. Since the early 2010s, Purity Ring has influenced electronic pop with immersive self-produced albums and striking visual performances. Their debut, Shrines, received Best New Music from Pitchfork and was shortlisted for the Polaris Prize, and the breakout song Fineshrine holds RIAA Gold certification in the U.S. Collaborations have included Danny Brown, Deftones, and Black Dresses. Sacred Boundaries

Explore how to say yes to yourself with confidence and without guilt in a community workshop devoted to building healthy boundaries. Rather than putting up walls, boundaries act as compassionate guidelines that protect your energy, honor your needs, and create space for more genuine connections. The session addresses why boundaries are vital for emotional wellbeing, the myths that can make them seem uncomfortable or selfish, the ways clear limits can foster deeper and more respectful relationships, and practical steps to begin setting them with care. Participants will leave with a fresh perspective and straightforward tools they can apply in daily life. The workshop is led by Diane Pilatovsky, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, and Certified Sound Healer who takes a gentle, trauma-informed approach that combines evidence-based therapies with holistic practices to support emotional wellbeing, nervous system regulation, and personal growth. This talk is part of Magnolia Wellness Hour, a free community series. Capacity is limited, and registration is required.

FL State Championship - ACL Cornhole Tournament

The ACL Florida State Championship brings a full weekend of cornhole to DoubleTree by Hilton at the Entrance to Universal Orlando, with the main event presented by Veterans Affairs Law P.A. Building on a previous turnout of more than 500 unique players, over $37,000 paid out, multiple divisions reaching capacity, and a sold out hotel block, this stay and play championship blends top tier competition with convenient on site amenities. The opening night features the Club Championship for ACL Minor League and Club teams. Tiers 1 and 2 compete for prize money and the chance to claim the top spot in Florida along with a path to the World Championships, while tiers 3 through 5 chase state bragging rights, qualification opportunities, and cash. A Big Blind Draw welcomes players who are not in the team events, creating an easy way to get into the action right away. Across the weekend, the schedule includes senior, women, and junior singles, coed mixed doubles with local points and a 14 round limit, a Crew Cup with round limits, and singles and doubles for every tier from novice to open. Divisional blind draws return across tiers 1 and 2, 3, and 4 and 5 with tier based entry fees and payout percentages. Quick hit Sit N Go tournaments run as boards and time allow so players can earn points, plaques, and bonus cash. All divisions pay out based on the posted percentage of total entries, and with strong registration and sponsor support, total payouts are expected to surpass the previous mark. Blind draws follow ACL rating guidelines. Open and Advanced include a rating floor of 7.25 with no cap, Competitive runs from 6.25 to 7.25, and Intermediate or Novice is capped at 6.25 with no floor. Players must enter divisions that match their official ACL Player Profile rating. To keep tournament flow smooth, several divisions will cap entries, with Competitive Singles expected to cap at 128 players, while other divisions flex based on registration and may be adjusted to optimize the experience. Registration is required and early bird pricing is available, then prices rise, with an additional $5 per player applied to Singles, Doubles, and Blind Draws after the early pricing window. Non Gold, Platinum, or Diamond ACL members add $10 per entry. Staying in the official hotel block at the host venue adds extra excitement through a $1,000 Slide for Cash bonus, with random names drawn from the block list and one throw earned for every night stayed. The rate is $159 per night with discounted parking. Championship matches and featured divisions will be professionally streamed with live commentary, and there are opportunities to appear as a guest commentator or featured analyst. On site, outside food and beverages are not permitted, hotel dining and bar options are available, alcohol can be purchased, and bringing personal chairs is welcome alongside hotel seating. Limited vendor spaces are available inside the ballroom, and sponsorship options include support for the Club Championship, Slide for Cash, division added money, and overall payouts, with benefits such as live stream logo placement, social media promotion, and on site branding seen by hundreds of players and families.

Awaken & Grow: Learn to Grow Your Own Microgreens with Plant Prana Wellness

Dig into a hands-on microgreens workshop led by Joe and Kat Longhany of Plant Prana Wellness, centered on practical skills and the health benefits of these tiny greens. Participants plant a 5x5 grow kit to take home, taste several fresh varieties, learn simple methods for growing and caring for microgreens at home, and explore the research that supports their nutritional power. Microgreens are tender vegetable seedlings picked early when flavor and nutrients are highly concentrated, and studies indicate they can contain up to forty times the nutrients of fully grown vegetables. They are easy to cultivate, add color and freshness to everyday dishes, and fit naturally into a wellness-focused routine. Whether starting from scratch or looking to improve results, attendees gain clear know-how, confidence, and a deeper understanding of how microgreens can support overall wellbeing. Joe and Kat are the founders of Plant Prana Wellness, a Central Florida microgreens farm dedicated to providing nutrient-dense food to the local community. They appear at area farmers markets each week with fresh, living microgreens and connect with families seeking healthier, more intentional choices. Beyond the markets, they teach workshops and educational programs on home growing and plant-based nutrition, blending step-by-step instruction with real-world experience. Joe is a former university writing professor of 18 years who now distills complex health and nutrition research into practical guidance, and Kat is an RN who reversed chronic kidney disease and debilitating arthritis through a plant-based lifestyle. Together, they focus on small daily actions that lead to meaningful change.
