Workshop: Hand Building Clay Slab Mosaics
Create a mosaic-style artwork using handbuilt clay slabs in a relaxed, creative studio setting tailored for ages 16 and up. All experience levels are welcome. Guided demonstrations introduce the fundamentals of handbuilding while leaving plenty of room to explore pattern, texture, and composition. Participants roll, cut, and add texture to clay pieces, shaping a design with personal flair. After the initial session, the work remains on site to dry and be bisque fired. A follow-up visit, scheduled directly with the instructor, invites participants to glaze their fired pieces. A final visit focuses on assembling the mosaic and applying grout. When the piece has been fully processed through drying, firing, and glazing, participants receive notice that it is ready for pickup. Expect a friendly pace, creative freedom, and permission to get a little messy while making something uniquely your own.
