    The Wilder Flower

    Eddie's Attic, 545 N McDonough St, Decatur · verified Aug 22
    See details

The Wilder Flower brings a harmony-rich evening to Eddie's Attic, weaving folk, Americana, bluegrass, and old-time influences around a core of original songs and tunes. Founders Madeline Dierauf and Molly Johnson began collaborating after meeting at the Hagood Mill Fiddlers Convention in 2021, where both earned multiple blue ribbons. Guitarist Audrey Neel joined in 2025, completing the trio’s three-part vocal blend and sparking new arrangements. The set moves from banjo-driven bluegrass pieces to fiddle tunes and clawhammer string band numbers, balancing spare, two-chord ballads with moodier, modern melodies. Their shared sensibility ties the variety together while giving space to tasteful instrumental interplay. The group has opened for the SteelDrivers, Steep Canyon Rangers, and MIPSO, and has appeared at Merlefest, The Earl Scruggs Music Festival, GreyFox Bluegrass Festival, Big Ponderoo Music and Art Festival, FreshGrass Festival, High Mountain Hay Fever, and Albino Skunk Music Festival. Beyond the stage, they teach and lead educational outreach with organizations such as Junior Appalachian Musicians, Merlefest, Mountain School of Strings, Outlaw Strings Oregon, and Red Wing Academy, as well as in one-off festival workshops.
