Memories can be from any location and do not need to be related to DeKalb County. Current and former DeKalb County residents are asked to share fond memories through photographs or objects, and what is shared may be included in Together, which will highlight DeKalb County citizens through photographs, oral histories, an all ages interactive activity, and artifacts from the collection. Raised between the mountains of North Carolina and the Mendocino coast, she blends rock and Americana with the free spirit of jam-band improvisation, crafting a sound that feels both rooted and fresh. Her musical path began when she pulled an old Stratocaster from the garage, fixed it up, and learned to play by ear. On stage, the group delivers evolving sets that weave soulful Southern rock, modern Americana, and wide-open jams with Bella’s original songs, along with bold reimaginings of Grateful Dead favorites. The band’s momentum has taken them from intimate rooms to national stages and festivals, and they have recorded singles for an upcoming EP. Bella’s rise includes appearances with Allman Betts Family Revival, Melvin Seals & JGB, ALO, Jackie Greene, Oteil Burbridge, and members of Terrapin Family. She has performed at renowned rooms such as The Fillmore SF, The Orpheum LA, Sweetwater Music Hall, and The Hamilton, and even marked her 18th birthday with a set at the Bottlerock Napa festival. She was entrusted with Jerry Garcia’s famed Alligator guitar through the Grateful Guitars Foundation, and media recognition has followed, including praise from Susan Tedeschi in Guitar World and a Guitar Player feature highlighting her role in carrying forward the Grateful Dead’s legacy alongside Jeff Mason of Dark Star Orchestra and Tom Hamilton of JRAD.

Good Morning Means I Love You
Charis hosts Kendra Allen in conversation with Dr. Kelsey L. Smoot to celebrate Good Morning Means I Love You, a first novel that centers Rae, a young Texan who returns to the family she has built with two male partners and their sons, Morning and Night. Over the course of a year, Rae navigates choices about sex, caregiving, and partnership that feel true to her even when others are startled by them. She witnesses her children’s first steps and first words while her partners wrestle with masculinity, personhood, and fatherhood. The story moves through grief and delight and arrives at a clear-eyed recognition that our time to make love, build family, and honor a single brief life is limited. The book offers a layered portrait of self and intimacy, written in lyrical, daring, and sensuous prose that questions and reshapes what is expected. Kendra Allen is the author of the memoir Fruit Punch, the poetry collection The Collection Plate, and the essay collection When You Learn the Alphabet, which won the 2018 Iowa Prize for Literary Nonfiction, selected by Kiese Laymon. She writes the “Make Love in My Car” column for Southwest Review and is from Dallas. Dr. Kelsey L. Smoot (he/they) is a gender theorist, writer, and poet, a Southerner by choice whose autoethnographic approach informs reflections on life in the United States. He serves as an Assistant Managing Editor at Sundress Publications and has received the 2021 Sad Girls Club Spring Literary Contest award, the 2023 The Good Life Review Honeybee Prize, and the Grand Prize in the 2024 Button Poetry Video Contest. He is a Tin House Workshop alum, a Pushcart Prize nominee, a Best of the Net nominee, and a Best New Poets nominee. His chapbooks include we was bois together with CLASH! (An Imprint of Mouthfeel Press) and Muse with Another New Calligraphy. His debut full-length collection, SOULMATE AS A VERB, appeared in early 2026 with DOPAMINE/Semiotext(e). Charis and ATL Free School present an in-person workshop with Kevy focused on do-it-yourself vehicle care at Charis Books & More. The program begins with a classroom session that introduces core maintenance concepts and safe practices, including how to decide what to handle yourself, which components are simpler or more advanced to service, basic diagnostics, suggested tools, and practical examples. After the overview, the group heads outside for a hands-on oil change clinic. Participants learn how to check oil, choose the right weight and amount for their vehicle, pick a compatible oil filter, raise a car safely, drain and collect used oil, replace the filter, add fresh oil, keep the work area clean, and dispose of oil responsibly. Small group practice provides time with tools and step by step guidance. Registration is required and space is limited. The class is currently full, so new RSVPs will be added to a waitlist and confirmed automatically if a spot opens. Portions held indoors require face masks and masks are provided. Anyone feeling unwell is asked to stay home. The venue offers step free access with ramps and accessible parking. Interiors are level with movable shelving to create wider paths. Restrooms are gender neutral, wheelchair accessible, and equipped with motion activated fixtures and baby changing tables. Directional signage includes braille. ASL interpretation can be arranged on request, and additional accessibility needs can be discussed in advance. The organizers uphold a harassment free environment for people of all identities and backgrounds. Harassment is not tolerated and unsolicited sexual language or imagery is prohibited. Eddie's Attic welcomes a live pairing of Brianna McGeehan and Jimi Kravitz. Jimi Kravitz is an Atlanta-based band that blends rock, psychedelic soul, funk, and pop, shaping a sound driven by melody, groove, and the spark of an energetic stage show that feels both fresh and familiar. Brianna McGeehan brings a rich musical story rooted in an Irish American family tradition. She grew up surrounded by music, began at the piano as a child, added violin, voice, and guitar, and sang in choirs. Studies and travels took her to Tanzania and India, then to Naropa University in Boulder for performance work centered on anti-colonial and anti-racist themes. After the program ended, she spent time in Brooklyn before returning to Portland, where she raised her daughter, wrote her first songs, trained in music therapy, and started the band Dreaming in Colors, reinforcing a belief in music’s healing power and the importance of the creative process. From there she formed Pretend Sweethearts with Drew De Man, releasing Becoming the Tender Animal in 2015 and American Eclipse in 2018, along with singles, and touring the United States with opening slots for Allison Russell and Rising Appalachia while raising a family. Her influences span Lauryn Hill, Radiohead, the Cranberries, the Beatles, and Irish folk recordings, with 90s Pacific Northwest grunge and classical piano also shaping her voice. Now focused on a solo path, she has released three singles and discussed her song Mother Maiden in a recent RTE interview, accompanied by a video featuring her daughter and friends. This performance brings together McGeehan’s evolving solo work and the colorful, genre-crossing pulse of Jimi Kravitz.

He and Taylor later founded Hiss Golden Messenger, deepening their exploration of rhythm and song on the East Coast. Back in California since 2015, his studio work spans Alice Gerrard’s Grammy-nominated Follow the Music, William Tyler’s First Cow soundtrack, and Mia Dyson’s ARIA-winning Tender Heart. His own albums carry a hazy, JJ Cale-like warmth, with Windless Day (2020) earning four stars from Mojo’s John Mulvey, who praised it as his most satisfying to date. Marking the Garden’s 50th anniversary, this encore exhibition celebrates French sculptor Niki de Saint Phalle, a pioneer of monumental work whose career included the exuberant Nanas along with brightly colored depictions of people, animals, and fantastical creatures. Forty-one pieces are on view, considered the most extensive presentation of her art in North America, with most loans from the Niki Charitable Art Foundation and additional works from private collections. The scale ranges from Grand Step Totem at roughly 2,000 pounds and Large Yelling Man standing about 16 and a half feet tall to compact relief wall pieces around two feet square. Installations span the Garden, the Conservatory, the Orchid Center, and the Gardenhouse Gallery, with The Three Graces installed in the Skyline Garden pond. An interpretive display about the artist and her work appears near the entrance to the Orchid Display House. The artist, who died in 2002, first exhibited at the Garden about two decades ago, and there is no additional fee beyond Garden admission.

After reconnecting in 2019, they rounded out the band with Mississippi natives Chase Porter on bass and Zach Corder on drums. Abe Partridge brings his singular blend of songs and storytelling to Eddie's Attic with support from Jack Barksdale. The Mobile, Alabama artist is a musician, songwriter, visual artist, storyteller, and documentarian whose 2018 debut, Cotton Fields and Blood for Days, kicked off years of constant touring in the U.S. and Europe. His resume includes appearances at 30A Songwriters Festival and Laurel Cove Music Festival, along with performances in revered listening rooms such as the Bluebird Cafe, Eddie's Attic, and Duke's. He has toured extensively with Matthew Sweet, Drivin' N Cryin', and Dar Williams around his release Love in the Dark, and he has been featured on NPR programs Mountain Stage and Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour. Beyond the stage, Partridge co-created the Alabama Astronaut podcast with Ferrill Gibbs, documenting songs from holiness, serpent-handling churches in Appalachia. The series quickly reached the Top Ten documentary podcasts on Apple Podcasts and has surpassed 100,000 downloads with a 4.9-star rating. As a visual artist, his acrylic and watercolor works appear in galleries around the Southeast and in the private collections of Tyler Childers, Mike Wolfe, Rick Hirsch, Tommy Stinson, and Tommy Prine. His art is shown annually at Howard Finster's Paradise Gardens, was featured in Stephen King's Dr. Sleep, and includes cover and promotional work for Charlie Parr, Tyler Childers, and The Red Clay Strays. His first major exhibition, With Signs Following, was presented at the Alabama Contemporary Art Center and was followed by a book of portraits and stories. Partridge also explores side projects, from the punk outfit The Psych Peas with members of The Red Clay Strays, to The Satan, You're a Liars with David Childers and The Serpents. He is preparing a new album produced by Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth. American Songwriter has noted his standing as one of the Southeast's most respected songwriters and visual folk artists.

Rainbow Girls brings harmony rich, roots leaning indie sounds to Eddie's Attic. The California group is celebrated for close three part vocals, potent songwriting, and a candid yet polished presence on stage, with a live set that can spark laughter one moment and tears the next. The trio met in Southern California and first came together while hosting a weekly open mic in their college house, known as Rainbow House, then spent early summers busking and couch surfing across Europe. After their drummer departed in 2016, Erin Chapin, Caitlin Gowdey, and Vanessa May embraced a stripped down acoustic setup around a single condenser microphone, a shift that spotlighted their intricate blend and helped cement their standing in the roots scene as their following grew across the United States and Europe through a viral surge on social media. Their 2024 album, Haunting, continues that evolution by reclaiming the word so often applied to female harmonies, using it to express power found in confronting trauma, grief, loss, and fear. The songs move with both intimacy and breadth, tracing resilience through finely layered arrangements and voices.

REBEL REBEL is a 5Rhythms Waves workshop at Core Dance that celebrates the untamed side of the human spirit, inviting movement that honors wildness, devotion, defiance, and daring. Rooted in Gabrielle Roth’s vision of fierce inner freedom, it offers space to move with what matters most and to let embodied practice become a stand for love and aliveness. The workshop is led by Julie Stuart, an internationally certified 5Rhythms teacher and experienced facilitator of embodied work. For two decades she has supported businesses, organizations, and individuals in navigating challenges toward clarity and alignment, with a focus on the body’s wisdom as a source of insight and healing. All are welcome, whether brand new to 5Rhythms or seasoned in the practice. People of every culture, identity, creed, gender, and sexuality are invited, as well as all sizes, abilities, and life stages. You do not need to feel strong or energetic to take part. If you are breathing, you have what you need, and chairs are available for seated dance. Tuition is $350, with an early bird rate available. Discounts for 5RTA members and crew can be requested. Eddie’s Attic presents an intimate songwriter round where Becky Shaw, Alicia Stockman, and Wyatt Espalin share the stage, trading songs and the stories behind them. Each artist brings a distinct Americana voice shaped by a different place. Shaw, born in Seattle and long rooted in Decatur, has spent decades evolving while staying true to her craft, performing primarily as a solo artist with a second solo album planned for release this fall. Stockman comes from Heber City, Utah, drawing on mountain life and influences such as Jewel, Susan Tedeschi, Grace Potter, and the Indigo Girls. Espalin, raised in North Georgia, is an award-winning singer-songwriter and fiddler whose music reflects deep Appalachian roots. His debut album, Lies From A Lonesome Valley, arrived in 2026, and his accolades include a win at the L.E.A.F. Festival New Song Singer-Songwriter Competition and finalist nods at contests including the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at Merlefest, the Rocky Mountain Folk Festival Songwriter Showcase, and Songwriter Serenade. The Travelin' McCourys
At Eddie's Attic, The Travelin' McCourys deliver bluegrass rooted in family tradition and driven by innovation. Brothers Ronnie on mandolin and Rob on banjo grew up in the Del McCoury lineage, then forged their own direction with Christian Ward on fiddle, Alan Bartram on bass, and Cody Kilby on guitar. The group preserves the style they were raised in while pushing it forward, sometimes plugging in for a bigger sound. They are the only band in which every member has received an International Bluegrass Music Association honor for their instrument at least once. Along the way they have collaborated with Dierks Bentley, shared onstage moments with String Cheese Incident and Phish, recorded Pick with Keller Williams, and launched the Grateful Ball to connect bluegrass with the music of the Grateful Dead. Appearances at the Allman Brothers' Wanee Festival and Warren Haynes' Christmas Jam, plus a widely shared jam with The Lee Boys, brought new listeners to their high-energy mix of sacred steel, R&B, and bluegrass. Their concerts have drawn strong followings at storied rooms and major festivals, and a standout set at DelFest drew praise from Rolling Stone for bridging classic and contemporary sounds.
Eddie's AtticVenomous Competency Training - Special Sunday Session
The Amphibian Foundation offers a Venomous Competency Training program in Atlanta for students who have completed the Level I Venomous Training & Certification Course. Led by Marjan, the foundation’s Venomous Programs Coordinator, this every-other-month session focuses on refining technique and building confidence with the methods introduced in the introductory course. Participants begin with a lecture on snakebite management, then refresh skills with non-venomous snakes before moving into supervised training with venomous species after a break. Instruction emphasizes individualized, hands-on guidance, safe handling practices for both non-venomous and venomous snakes, the life history, toxinology, and ecology of native venomous reptiles, emergency field care for envenomation, and approaches to relocation. The schedule may shift as activities progress, and documented competency hours are provided for those officially tracking their training. Registration is intended for those who are reasonably certain they can attend, and questions are welcome.
October XChange Open Mic 10-09-26
XChange Open Mic welcomes poets, comedians, musicians, storytellers, and boundary-blending creatives to share original work in a warm setting centered on voice, story, and sound. The atmosphere emphasizes a vibrant, supportive audience and a shared stage for every art form. Hosted by Theresa Davis at the Paul Robeson Theater in partnership with the Fulton Institute, this edition does not include a slam. Admission is $10 in advance and $15 at the door. This monthly workshop, led by Theresa Davis, brings writers together to develop their craft in a supportive setting. Guest facilitators share expertise across genres, including poetry, prose, fiction, and nonfiction, offering fresh perspectives to expand each participant’s toolkit. Sessions are interactive and include prompts and ekphrasis, the practice of vividly describing visual art in words, to spark new ideas and growth. Participants are encouraged to bring a favorite writing tool, whether a pen, notebook, or digital device. Admission is $10, payable online or at the door, and supports the continuation of these workshops. Registration is required and helps with snack planning.

Experience Indigenous cultures from across North America at the Indigenous Peoples Celebration within the Standing Peachtree Native American Festival. The program features intertribal dancing and special performances, with highlights that include hoop dance artistry, Native fiddle music, and Polynesian dances. Explore Native American arts and crafts, enjoy food such as Indian tacos, roasted corn, hamburgers, and frybread, and learn through living history presentations focused on the Muscogee people. A Muscogee Creek elder will share stories, and dancers can take part in a luck-of-the-draw opportunity. Randall Bramblett Band at Eddie's Attic
Eddie's Attic presents the Randall Bramblett Band, led by an artist who has spent decades shaping a wide-ranging Southern approach to American roots music. Bramblett’s path includes touring with the Gregg Allman Band, joining Sea Level with Chuck Leavell, recording and touring with Cowboy, and 16 years in Steve Winwood’s band. His songs have been covered by Bonnie Raitt, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Delbert McClinton and more. He has served as horn leader for Widespread Panic and also tours with Marc Cohn. In 2023, Bettye LaVette released an entire album of his songs that received a Grammy nomination. As a frontman, he brings thirteen albums of what he calls Modern Roots Music. Living in Athens, Georgia and recognized on the Athens Walk of Fame, he continues to earn respect from musicians, critics, DJs and fans. This appearance showcases that body of work at Eddie's Attic.
