He also introduces the “Fundamentals” chapter, a set of fridge-ready flavor builders like spring onion oil, green salsa, za’atar oil, confit tomatoes, and chilli crisp. Through stories from the writing process with co-author Verena Lochmuller, along with practical tips and reflections on finding joy in cooking even when you are tired, he shows how SIMPLE TOO is about making everyday cooking feel generous, achievable, and full of joy. Yotam Ottolenghi is a leading voice in contemporary food, known for vibrant, vegetable-forward cuisine and an imaginative approach to everyday cooking. Russian Circles

Variety Playhouse, 1099 Euclid Ave, Atlanta · verified Oct 2
    See details

Variety Playhouse hosts an all-ages performance featuring Russian Circles with Pelican. The Chicago-based instrumental trio of Mike Sullivan, Dave Turncrantz, and Brian Cook has spent more than two decades shaping a distinct sound that folds together influences from Midwest Touch & Go alumni, classic progressive rock, hypnotic motorik and kosmische pulses, and the harsher edges of metal. Known for consistency and craft rather than hit singles, they deliver immersive heavy music built on tension, release, and precise dynamics. Their recent album Nine reflects a steady refinement of that approach, with basic tracks recorded at Electrical Audio in Chicago and finishing work with engineer Kurt Ballou at GodCity Studio in Massachusetts. The record spans the stark churn of Borehole, the concentrated onslaught of Empath, and the patient rise of Eluvial, then widens the palette with the pulsing E2, the forward momentum of Meridian, and the light and dark contrast of Arletta and Seventh Seal. An all-ages bill pairing Russian Circles’ expansive instrumentals with Pelican at Variety Playhouse.

Waylon Wyatt brings the Dustpiles World Tour to the stage with a sound that blends folk storytelling and country grit. The 19-year-old artist from Hackett, Arkansas started writing as a kid after long days working construction with his father, and later recorded and produced his debut EP, Til The Sun Goes Down, in the rec room of his childhood home. That release has earned hundreds of millions of streams, with Arkansas Diamond and Jailbreak achieving RIAA Gold status. Influenced by artists like Tyler Childers and Zach Bryan, he has been highlighted by GRAMMY.com as an emerging country talent and selected as a VEVO DSCVR Artist to Watch. His live history spans sold-out rooms and major festivals, including Stagecoach, Cavendish Beach Music Festival, FairWell Festival, a Hyde Park appearance with Zach Bryan, and global stops such as C2C Festival and CMC Rocks, plus stages like Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo. This all ages show is part of his headlining run across North America, Europe, and Australia, following the release of his debut album, Dustpiles.

The market is prioritizing vendors offering fruits and vegetables, meat, poultry and eggs, dairy and cheeses, breads and baked goods, honey, preserves and sauces, as well as flowers, fresh beverages, teas and other specialty foods. Additional categories are welcome either within the farmers market area or the larger Creator’s Market that takes place regularly. Terminal West, 887 W Marietta St NW, Atlanta · verified Oct 9
    See details

Zero Mile presents Silverada with The Pink Stones at Terminal West in Atlanta. This all ages show spotlights a band in transition and full stride, evolving from its years as Mike and the Moonpies into a renewed chapter under the Silverada name. Led by Mike Harmeier with drummer Taylor Englert, guitarist Catlin Rutherford, bassist Omar Oyoque, and steel guitarist Zachary Moulton, the group built its reputation in Austin dancehalls before carrying Texas roots to places like Abbey Road Studios and the Grand Ole Opry. Their newest chapter shares the name Silverada and marks a ninth release that pairs vivid storytelling with sweeping pedal steel and a rhythm section that ranges from country shuffle to rock and roll drive. The set draws from songs that expand their palette, including the highway-ready Radio Wave, the explosive mid-song lift of Eagle Rare, Stay By My Side captured live in one take at Capricorn Sound Studios in Macon, and Wallflower blending harmonized guitars, disco pulse, and 808 accents. Recorded at Yellow Dog Studios with longtime producer Adam Odor, the material tips its hat to earlier eras while pushing forward, from Stubborn Son featuring fiddle by Gene Elders to Doing It Right with classic slow-dance warmth and Load Out chronicling blue-collar grind. Harmeier’s recent writing grew out of late nights in a backyard studio and a stack of books, from Jeff Tweedy’s insights on songwriting to astronomy and sci-fi, fueling a collective leap toward something bigger in the studio and onstage.

Baking with Executive Sous Chef Lenny Santiago

Brookfield Country Club, 100 Willow Run Rd, Roswell · verified Oct 6
    See details

Executive Sous Chef Lenny Santiago leads a yearlong baking program designed to help participants master favorite baked goods through focused lessons. Each monthly session builds confidence and technique, moving step by step through essential methods and the skills that make great results repeatable. The fee is $40++ per participant for each class. Upcoming topics include working with enriched sweet doughs with an emphasis on consistent fillings, culminating in cinnamon rolls topped with cream cheese frosting. A subsequent class centers on classic technique and troubleshooting, covering how to fix common problems and make smart ingredient substitutions while baking a Southern layered cake. The series concludes with a celebratory capstone where students plan their project, manage time, refine presentation, and showcase what they have learned in a single standout bake. Earlier sessions covered the foundations of quick breads and leavening, accurate measuring, mixing without overworking, and the roles of key ingredients through zucchini and banana breads. The versatility of muffins came next, focusing on portioning batter, adding mix-ins, and achieving a tall dome with blueberry and roasted corn cornbread muffins. Participants then explored tender biscuits and cream scones by working with cold butter, layering dough, and gentle kneading. Pie making followed, from scratch all-butter crusts to fruit and custard fillings, including rolling, getting fruit filling just right, thickening custard, and dialing in bake times for a classic apple pie. Savory applications extended those crust skills to quiche Lorraine and beef empanadas. The program also introduced yeasted doughs with a high hydration formula that taught activating yeast, kneading, shaping, dimpling, and topping through a pan of focaccia. Reservations are required through the Invited app or Member Portal. Changes or cancellations must be completed by the Sunday before each class or the full event price will be charged, including for missed classes. A minimum of six participants must be registered by the deadline for a class to run. Attendance is limited to Brookfield Members and their guests.
