BIG K.R.I.T.

Big K.R.I.T. brings his genre-crossing Southern sound to The Eastern with special guest KIRBY. The Mississippi rapper and producer blends hard-hitting rhythms with reflective storytelling, uniting lyrical skill with a clear artistic purpose that centers legacy, healing, and connection. His forthcoming project, Dedicated to Cadalee Biarritz, draws on car culture as a metaphor for life’s transitions, balancing nostalgia with growth through warm, organic production created alongside Mississippi-born collaborators. Returning to his roots without repeating old formulas, he leans into maturity in hip-hop, favoring songs that breathe and resonate over time rather than pure showcases of technique. Embracing independence as both a creative and business choice, he prioritizes authenticity and meaningful engagement through live performance and narrative-driven music. Summer Blockbuster

Southside Theatre Guild’s Southside Sidekicks present a live, completely improvised action movie where the crowd helps build an entire franchise as it happens. From choosing the series name to dreaming up an indestructible hero and the whisper-only catchphrase timed to a slow-motion explosion, the universe springs from audience suggestions. One installment is only the beginning. Director Lees steers the saga into a string of over-the-top sequels fueled by ideas from the seats, whether that means a globe-saving mission on a tropical island, an abrupt pivot into heartfelt musical territory, a space-set chapter, the reveal of a long-lost evil twin, a problem solved by hacking the mainframe, or even a surprise celebrity cameo. Expect outrageous stunts, sunglasses coming off at the most dramatic moment, improbably large blasts, car chases that laugh at the laws of physics, quips tossed out while walking away from fire, mysterious-accented villains, emotional flashbacks, and training montages, plus at least one nervous laugh when someone blanks for a beat. Admission is $10 at the door. The pyrotechnics may be pretend, but the laughter is real.
