An animated adventure at the Herrett Center for Arts & Science follows Elon, a hamster scientist who lives in a junkyard and struggles to be accepted by the local rat community as his often unsuccessful experiments draw little respect. A sudden crash leaves a crater in his garden and reveals a damaged robot. After repairing it, Elon learns the robot fell from a spaceship preparing a mission to colonize Mars. With only three days until liftoff, he sets out to reunite the robot with its companions, a journey that celebrates courage and quick thinking on the way to space and back. True to the spirit of the Gambler 500, anything can happen. A car might purr along or tap out, roads could be smooth or blocked, odd roadside finds may appear, and careful fuel planning matters. The only way to know is to give it a go. Waypoint lists will be handed out at the starting point, with different options for Saturday and Sunday. Along the way there are places to get gas, food, and liquor. Popping into small town convenience stores is encouraged, and locals enjoy the visits. Everyone is responsible for their own camping gear and provisions. A simple code of conduct keeps things on track. Do not be a jerk, keep fun ahead of rules, and come ready for good-natured shenanigans.

After years away, the SVTdF Car Show returns to its downtown Ketchum home with a full day dedicated to automotive style and sound. The celebration begins with a scenic seven mile drive through Sun Valley and Elkhorn for participating showcase cars, then 130 vehicles head back to line the downtown streets. A world premiere program brings pianist Yuja Wang together with six members of New York City's acclaimed Afro-Latin collective People of Earth, with Cuban composer Ahmed Alom serving as musical director. At its heart is La Diaspora, a new concerto for piano and Latin chamber ensemble by Alom, heard for the first time. Written specifically for Wang and People of Earth, the piece places the piano in real conversation with Afro-Cuban rhythmic and harmonic traditions such as rumba, timba, salsa, and son. The program also includes original works by People of Earth and solo and four-hand piano music by Alom created for Wang. Wang and the full ensemble join forces for a reimagining of Márquez's Danzón No. 2, offering a fresh perspective on a Latin concert classic through this singular partnership. This is neither fusion nor crossover, it is a fully realized premiere collaboration between musical worlds that seldom share the same stage.

The inaugural gathering of the Humane Letters Society of the Magic Valley introduces Bored to Death, a series that lays out the Framework of Recovered Vision, an approach to the liberal arts that treats great works as formative encounters rather than mere facts to consume. Before turning to the first major text, Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, the group will reflect on how everyday habits encourage quick escapes from boredom and will explore a progression that moves from boredom into leisure, then longing, contemplation, and ultimately transcendence. This foundation is intended to guide how participants read, discuss, and receive great texts together. People of all ages are welcome, especially those interested in great books, Christian wisdom, imagination, beauty, and rich conversation.

Pablo Cruise takes the stage with the easygoing spirit and grounded vocals that defined the band from the start. Their 1975 A&M debut arrived with a memorable Golden Gate Park cover and a name that blends sincerity with a love of good times, a mix reflected in unadorned singing and elegant, infectious grooves. The live show builds on that foundation with lively momentum. Through the late 1970s and early 1980s, the group toured the United States, Canada and Japan, earned multiple chart successes, sold millions of records, and appeared on television programs including American Bandstand, The Merv Griffin Show and The Dinah Shore Hour. In 1979 they set a new attendance mark at the Sahara Tahoe in South Lake Tahoe, became the first rock band to play a casino showroom, and were the first rock act to appear on the Grand Ole Opry stage. After seven studio albums and extensive touring, they paused for nearly two decades. Reuniting in 2005, Pablo Cruise continues to perform across North America. Core members David Jenkins, Cory Lerios and Steve Price are joined by Larry Antonino and Robbie Wyckoff. Two live albums and a concert DVD released through Sony Music document the concert experience, and today’s performances honor a timeless catalog with renewed energy.

Cave reimagines the museum’s galleries as an immersive setting shaped by crafted representations of mammoth hides and bones, a video that animates the long-extinct creatures, and hundreds of transformed everyday items, from vintage tools to his grandmother’s thimble collection, arranged like scientific specimens on a large illuminated table. By elevating ordinary and often overlooked materials, the work reflects on what communities value and how shared meaning is formed. It acknowledges cultures and lives that have been lost, while revealing the imaginative possibilities found in the most modest materials. Newman is the James Dicke Curator of Contemporary Art and deputy head curator at SAAM, with responsibilities spanning research, exhibitions, and acquisitions for the museum’s contemporary holdings. Her scholarship explores the connections between contemporary art and design and focuses on art of the 1980s. She has taught at the Corcoran College of Art and Design, George Mason University, and Georgetown University, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Williams College and a doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley. This talk is part of SVMoA’s Museum Passport series, which features presentations on artists in major museum exhibitions throughout the United States.

Shu-Fly ArenaBoz Scaggs: Rhythm Review 2026
This event spotlights Boz Scaggs, an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist with a career that spans decades. After early work with Steve Miller in The Ardells and the Steve Miller Band, he embarked on a solo path in 1969. His breakthrough came with the 1976 album Silk Degrees, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and featured the hits Lido Shuffle and Lowdown. Platinum follow ups included Down Two Then Left and Middle Man, the latter producing the Top 40 songs Breakdown Dead Ahead and Jojo. Following a hiatus through much of the 1980s, he resumed recording and touring in 1988, took part in The New York Rock and Soul Revue, and opened Slim’s in San Francisco, a venue that later closed in 2020. He continued to release music and perform through the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s, with 2018’s Out of the Blues as his most recent album. Silk Degrees also helped catalyze the formation of Toto. For those sessions Scaggs assembled David Paich, David Hungate, and Jeff Porcaro, longtime collaborators who went on to form the band and maintained ties with him through various performances and studio work. Paich later returned for the 2001 album Dig, contributing to six of the eleven tracks. A limited VIP Tour Package is available. Historian Barbara, a founding member of TAG Historical Research & Consulting, will guide participants through the circa 1927 lodge, sharing stories, offering a behind the scenes perspective, and providing a look inside select cabins while discussing the property’s history and what lies ahead. Attendees can also visit with current and former owners. The experience highlights options available on site or nearby, including booking a cabin stay, camping under the stars, hiking mountain trails, enjoying mountain views from a nearby hot springs, or taking a horseback trail ride. Centered on an intimate, expressive guitar, this concert reflects a rigorous artistic path in dialogue with Latin American roots and their ongoing evolution.

Presented as an official festival event in partnership with the Trailing of the Sheep Festival, this concert spotlights Molly in the Mineshaft, a newgrass group that honors bluegrass traditions while bringing a fresh, contemporary spark. Expect bold vocals and fiery instrumental breaks from standout musicians, including a three-time national champion from the Weiser Fiddle Festival. The band’s members have appeared across the United States, Mexico, Croatia, France, Switzerland, and Spain, reaching audiences that span elementary school children, international dignitaries, listeners in mental hospitals, and crowds at noted folk festivals. They have also shared the stage with The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Natalie MacMaster, Bar J Wranglers, Rory Feek, The Lower Lights, Jon Schmidt, Lincoln Highway, Evan J. Marshall, Cold Creek, and the Lux Singers.
