No prior experience is required and there is no cover. Participants add their names to a list, get called in order, and have a brief turn to tell, read, or even share through interpretive dance a personal story, folk tale, or a playful piece like a persuasive essay on proper flossing. The Snow Goal Scoring Camp in Schaumburg focuses on turning chances into goals with a proven methodology developed by Ken Snow, Indiana University’s all-time leading goal scorer. Held at Olympic Park, this four-day program welcomes boys and girls ages 7 to 17 who want faster-paced training to sharpen technique, build power and accuracy, and grow confidence in front of goal. Coaching covers laces shooting with both feet, curving finishes using the inside and outside of the foot, back-to-goal finishing, first-time and two-touch finishing, and 1v1 techniques to goal. Players apply their skills through small-sided shooting games and competitive scrimmages. Participants should bring cleats, shin guards, a ball, water, lunch, and sunscreen.

Support tasks for anyone who does not sew include tracing and cutting pattern pieces, ironing fabric, assembling sewing kits, cutting lengths of ribbon, deconstructing wedding dresses, prepacking gowns for delivery, checking in donated wedding dresses, and photographing wedding dresses and finished angel gowns, along with other similar duties. Part of an every other Thursday series, Round 7 of Bike Night Thursdays brings a packed evening with raffle prizes, live music, rotating food trucks, professional photos, discounted bike washes, and on-site support for gear, parts, and service. This edition features Nick’s Woodfire Pizza, serving hand-tossed pies prepared right from the truck across the Chicagoland area. The night moves quickly over two and a half hours, so early arrival can help make the most of it. Discounted bike washes are first come, first served with limited spots, and signups take place at the front desk. Professional photographers will capture the action with photos shared afterward on Facebook, and Good Vibes Mr. Photobooth will offer digital and printed keepsakes. Vendors and sponsors are slated to participate, and the main prize lineup will be announced.

Classic car owners can enter their vehicles for a $10 fee, and sponsors are being sought. The Arlington Heights Senior Center, Inc. Foundation is a 501c3 that raises funds for the eight agencies of the Arlington Heights Senior Center, supporting adults aged 55 and older in the community.

The Glenview Open Golf Outing Supporting The Childrens Heart Foundation

This golf outing at Old Orchard Country Club supports The Children’s Heart Foundation, with a goal of raising $25,000 to fund research that advances the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects. The foundation focuses exclusively on CHD research nationwide. These heart differences are the most common birth condition in the United States, affecting about 40,000 babies each year, or roughly one every 15 minutes. An estimated 2 to 3 million children and adults live with CHDs across the country, and since 1999, CHD death rates have declined by 37.5 percent, progress supported by research and donations. The outing uses a scramble format over 18 holes, with a scorecard playoff to break ties. Registration includes a bucket of range balls, lunch and dinner, and opportunities to earn trophies and prizes. An after-round celebration on site features food and drinks. Entry options include $175 for a single golfer, $300 for a twosome, and $600 for a foursome.

At Conscious Cup Coffee, a relaxed curriculum swap and coffee chat brings together the Wild Flowers Homeschool Co-Op community. Attendees can connect with other moms, compare what curriculum they are using or have used, and gather fresh ideas. Participants are welcome to bring materials they no longer need to trade, or simply browse what others bring. Conversation will include what has and has not worked over the years, with some older curriculum available to look through. Children are invited, with a few play items set up by the fountain to keep them engaged while adults talk. Dads are welcome too, creating an inclusive and friendly meet up over coffee.

A candlelit concert presents classical arrangements of music by Queen and Elton John at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights. Performed by a string trio, the program is split into two halves. The first features Queen classics including Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Another One Bites the Dust, Don’t Stop Me Now, You’re My Best Friend, I Want to Break Free, Somebody to Love, Killer Queen, and We Are the Champions. The second highlights Elton John favorites such as I’m Still Standing, Crocodile Rock, Bennie and the Jets, Saturday Night’s Alright, Candle in the Wind, Rocket Man, Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me, Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word, and Don’t Go Breaking My Heart. Seating is first come first served within your selected tiered zone in Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Bronze. The event is open to ages 8 and up. The venue is wheelchair accessible, although front row placement cannot be guaranteed. A donation is made to a different charity each month. There are two sittings.

Salute Inc. Presents: A Night to Remember Fundraiser featuring Mike & Joe Cover Band

Presented by SALUTE, INC. in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association, this fundraiser centers on music, community, and healing for military personnel affected by traumatic brain injury and early onset dementia. A private set from Mike & Joe shapes the night as attendees honor Ryan, an Army veteran whose life changed after a training injury during service. His wife and caregiver, Liana, shares his story. Because Ryan finds comfort in guitar, participants are invited to BYOG (bring your own guitar) for a collective playthrough of Freebird alongside Ryan and Mike & Joe. Funds raised will support military families facing early onset Alzheimer’s, with a Fund-a-Need opportunity helping continue this work. Tickets are $100 and include one drink and hors d’oeuvres. Now in its fifth year, this pickleball fundraiser supports the Arlington Heights Senior Center, Inc. Foundation in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The AHSC, Inc. Pickleball Tournament takes place at the Dryden Park Pickleball and Tennis Courts and welcomes players age 55 and older from all experience levels. Competition uses a round robin format across ten outdoor courts, creating a friendly setting to show skills and meet other players. Participants receive event swag and snacks. There is no backup date in case of rain.
