    The Riverside

Cà d'Zan House Concerts, Cambridge · verified Sep 13
    See details

Experience a house concert with The Riverside, a folk trio that began in Southern California when songwriter and guitarist Jacob Jeanson formed the band in 2012 while at Westmont College. They started out with a goal of winning Santa Barbara’s battle of the bands, took the top spot, and used the prize to release their first album. Over time Jacob’s songwriting deepened in a nostalgic yet fresh direction, and he teamed up with longtime bandmates Kristen Posey and Chase Fierro. The group tours extensively across theaters, venues, and festivals, yet truly shines in intimate house settings, often gathering around a single vintage-style microphone to blend harmonies and instruments with a warm, organic touch. Since 2012 they have released eight homegrown records along with multiple EPs, with more music on the way. An optional potluck and social hour starts things off, offering a friendly way to connect with fellow attendees and share a meal with the artist. Plates, bowls, utensils, napkins, and serving spoons will be provided. Bring a favorite entrée, appetizer, dessert, or drink to share. Choosing something you enjoy helps others enjoy it too, and it helps ensure the artist has a proper meal. All ages are welcome and the event is family friendly. A suggested donation of $20 to $30 supports the music. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for comfortable seating, and BYOB. If weather becomes an issue, the gathering will move to Bishop Hill Creative Commons. Crossroads Cultural Connections receives support from the Illinois Arts Council Agency through federal funds from the National Endowment for the Arts, Illinois Humanities, the Doris and Ken Kolb Charitable Trust, Big Bluestem Wind, and generous donors.
