Crown Point Car Cruise takes place at Bulldog Park. A section of West Street is closed to traffic during the cruise. Participants should not arrive early and may enter the Franciscan Health Pavilion from the West Street entrance near the north end of the complex once the cruise is underway. Vehicles parked under the pavilion or along the east side of West Street must be moved when the event ends, and the park gates close and lock soon after. Visitor parking is first come, first served in the West Street municipal lot, the Bulldog Park lot, along West Street, and at the Wheeler Middle School lot. The Chase Bank lot is for visitor parking only and is not available for classic car parking. This is a free event and no tickets are required. Participants start with 17 pennies and drop one after each lap, finishing when all are gone. A one mile route is available for those who prefer not to do stairs while still taking part. Entry includes finisher medals for the first 200 registrants and a discount for police, firefighters, and EMTs with code 911. The event supports the purchase of SWAT-T tourniquets, smaller devices used by Crown Point Fire/Rescue to help save the lives of kids and pets. The day features a scenic, scramble-style motorcycle ride, followed by dinner and an auction, along with event merchandise that celebrates the cause. Now in its 11th year in Northwest Indiana, Hub City Races offers a half marathon, 10K, and 5K on a flat route run out and back through historic Crown Point, starting and finishing at Lake County Fairgrounds. Wicked Wonders and Haunted Hills Haunted Attractions are partnering to offer a special pre-show walk-through that takes guests behind the scenes at Haunted Hills Haunted Attractions. The experience includes onsite parking, entry to the property, a tour of the grounds, and a lights-on exploration of Haunted Hills Hospital. Attendees also receive exclusive access to the makeup and costume area while actors prepare for the show, plus a meet and greet with an icon character. A Halloween-themed night race returns to Robinson Lake Park, presented by Hobart Parks and Events, bringing spooky fun for all ages. Participants can chase a personal best in the chip-timed 5K, take a relaxed Family Fun Walk or Run, or venture onto the Haunted Trail once racing concludes. Expect festive chills and family-friendly photo moments along the after-dark paths, and bring a headlamp or flashlight for low-light sections. The Family Fun Walk/Run is untimed and welcomes all skill levels on an unpaved loop around Robinson Lake, with glow items to collect along the way. The 5K provides bibs and chip timing, overall prizes for the top three finishers, and age-group awards for 18-20, 21-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. Medals are available for all who pre-register, and race-day registration is offered with a limited supply of shirts and finisher medals. Event T-shirts are available for $15 during registration or $20 on race day. After the 5K wraps up, the Haunted Trail opens for roughly a mile of eerie scenes, scare characters, and more photo opportunities. A costume contest will recognize the most creative and the scariest looks, with one child and one adult winner in each category. For safety, dogs, strollers, bicycles, inline skates, scooters, and other wheeled devices are not allowed on the course.
