    Summer, 1976

The Unicorn Theatre , 6 East St, Stockbridge · verified Sep 28
    See details

Summer, 1976 is an intimate two-actor play by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright David Auburn, whose acclaimed work, including Proof, often explores intellect, memory, and the delicate threads of human connection. A longtime collaborator with Berkshire Theatre Group, Auburn has both written and directed multiple projects for BTG, and here he turns his attention to an unlikely friendship between two women during the Bicentennial summer. A chance meeting grows into a relationship that lingers for years, shaping the course of both lives. The production is directed by Isadora Wolfe, returning to BTG after many seasons as a performer, choreographer, and co-director. An Artistic Associate with Punchdrunk in the UK and former Associate Artistic Director and Resident Director for the New York production of Sleep No More, she brings a vivid physical and visual approach to the stage. Her collaborations with artists such as Martha Clarke, Maxine Doyle, Eric Hill, Richard Jones, and Johannes Wieland, along with her work on the faculty of The Juilliard School and as a Fellow at NYU Center for Ballet and the Arts, inform a style that highlights subtle shifts in time, recollection, and connection within Auburn’s close-knit script. Reflective and resonant, this production offers a gentle look at friendship and the quiet moments that can change a life. Recommended for ages 12 and up.

A renowned singer songwriter, pianist, and multi-instrumentalist, he has built a career over three and a half decades with eleven studio albums, earning more than twenty placements on Billboard’s Top 40 across multiple genres. His performances move easily through American roots, rock and roll, blues, jazz, soul, and global influences, shaping a sound that feels both distinctive and timeless. Over the years he has appeared alongside luminaries such as Ray Charles, B.B. King, James Brown, Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, and Rod Stewart, experiences that enrich the stories he tells on stage. As the son of Jim Croce, he waited thirty years before embracing his father’s catalog in concert, launching this project when he found a sincere way to honor that legacy. The show blends beloved Jim Croce songs like “Operator,” “You Don’t Mess Around with Jim,” “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown,” and “Time in a Bottle” with A.J.’s own originals, tied together with storytelling, humor, and striking musicianship. Tickets range from $45 to $70, with discounts available for Mahaiwe Members and for youth.

    Jaguar Path Reiki

Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, 57 Interlaken Rd, West Stockbridge · verified Sep 27
    See details

Grounded in a shamanic perspective and Incan cosmology, this retreat and training at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health invites participants to recognize their embodied bond with the Earth and the wider web of energy that reaches beyond ordinary notions of time and distance. The experience centers on Reiki as an intuitive language of Nature, first awakening personal healing wisdom, then extending that care to others, to specific situations, to places on the planet, and to the Earth as a whole. Participants receive a certification at the professional level and engage in practices designed to spark meaningful shifts in the energetic system, deepening connection with Spirit, Nature, and the Earth’s restorative qualities while stepping more fully into the role of a Reiki channel. Training highlights include the Jaguar Path Reiki Level One and Two attunements, three energetic symbols that empower innate healing capacity, and a shamanic symbol that links to the ancestral realm. Attendees learn self-healing methods and shamanic techniques such as cord cutting and drum-based work, explore natural gateways within the body and energy field, create a supportive setting, and offer a complete Jaguar Path Reiki session. The curriculum fosters sacred presence and sensitivity to the living intelligence of the symbols, introduces straightforward long-distance practices for sending Reiki beyond limits of time and location, and integrates Reiki with the Chakra Illumination practice to trace an energy pattern back to its origin and release it on every level.

    ThunderBeard

The Colonial Theatre , 111 South St, Pittsfield · verified Oct 2
    See details

Billed as America’s #1 tribute to ZZ Top, ThunderBeard unleashes smoky, riff-heavy Texas blues rock with gritty swagger, big guitars, and the iconic beards that fans expect. The set traces the group’s roots in the blues-soaked 1970s with favorites like "La Grange," "Waitin’ for the Bus," and "Brown Sugar," then shifts into the slick, synth-laced hits that lit up the 1980s, including "Gimme All Your Lovin’," "Sharp Dressed Man," and "Legs." With tight musicianship, driving rhythms, and lively showmanship, the performance salutes that little ol’ band from Texas while spanning everything from barroom grooves to arena-ready anthems. It is a high-energy celebration of decades of iconic rock that tends to get audiences singing from the first riff.
