Healing with Mantras: A Kirtan and Chanting Immersion

Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, 57 Interlaken Rd, West Stockbridge · verified Oct 2
    See details

Immerse in a kirtan and chanting retreat at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health devoted to healing mantras and deep self care. Guided by Lee Mirabai Harrington, participants explore mantras from Tibetan Buddhist and Tibetan medical traditions with practices intended to support the mind, the chakras, the heart, and the subtle body’s energy pathways. Mornings focus on simple aloud recitation and quiet inner-voice chanting to awaken healing qualities and ease inner obstacles. Afternoons and select evenings feature call-and-response kirtan with devotional chants from Buddhist and Hindu lineages. The immersion introduces mantra healing within the Sowa Rigpa tradition, using specific Tibetan and Sanskrit mantras aimed at clearing subtle blockages, restoring balance, and cultivating stillness and peace in the midst of life’s challenges. Participants learn public mantras from the Sowa Rigpa mantra pharmacy, receive guidance for home practice, and work with methods designed to transform difficult emotions and support healing at physical, mental, and subtle levels. Devotional singing is offered as a heart-opening practice that reconnects practitioners with their innate qualities and can be especially supportive for those who find seated meditation challenging. Between sessions, enjoy Kripalu’s Ayurvedic-inspired cuisine, Ayurvedic spa offerings, and a range of classes in yoga, meditation, dance, and art. The Berkshire Mountains setting invites time outdoors with hiking, boating, and guided activities during vibrant foliage season. The retreat emphasizes rest, rejuvenation, and nourishing community, with the intention that participants depart feeling restored, balanced, and ready to carry the benefits into daily life. Guests are welcome to bring malas, and they are also available for purchase in the Kripalu shop.
