Sundancer's Cape CodNutrition for Healing: Wellness Through Cancer and Beyond (In-Person Sessions)
An 8-week educational series offers practical, research-backed nutrition guidance for people navigating cancer treatment, life after treatment, and long-term wellness. Sessions are available both online and in person, and participants can choose to attend any number of meetings based on interest and availability. A consent form is required for all formats, with online participants receiving the form in advance from Morgan and in-person attendees completing it on site. The program is free for CWC clients, caregivers, and cancer survivors. Members of the public are invited to contribute a suggested donation of 10 to 20 dollars per session to help cover instructor costs and sustain free access for clients and caregivers. In-person gatherings take place at CWC in South Yarmouth. Topic highlights include macronutrient needs for healing and recovery, strategies to support digestion and appetite changes, hydration for energy and symptom management, and approaches for managing taste changes and food aversions. The series is led by health and nutrition educator Morgan Trimper, who holds a degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition from the University of Maine and a master’s in Leadership and Administration from Boston College. A former Division I athlete, she blends performance insights with wellness education to create approachable programming. Her previous work with CWC during her dietetic internship included delivering nutrition talks and contributing to the Wellness Eats program.

Gypsy Sol Sessions brings live music to Gypsy Sol inside The Uncommoner Hotel through a new summer residency from Cape Symphony Presents, part of the wider Summer Sessions on 28 collaboration. This installment features Ocean Breeze performing in an intimate, design forward setting that reflects Cape Cod’s creative spirit. The series is carefully curated to span folk, jazz, indie, soul, and acoustic storytelling, in harmony with Gypsy Sol’s globally influenced atmosphere. Admission is free. Gypsy Sol, a tarot inspired cocktail and tapas concept, complements the experience with global flavors, craft cocktails, and outdoor fire pits. As part of Legacy Week on Martha’s Vineyard, the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture presents a program at Oak Bluffs Public Library, Big Meeting Room that centers on the vital contributions of Historically Black Colleges and Universities to preserving the story of Black America. Museum experts Joanne Hyppolite and Auntaneshia Staveloz will lead an exploration of the museum’s collaborations with HBCUs, including internships, preservation assistance, and other joint efforts. Pamela Garcia leads a new master class, Devil’s in the Levels, evolved from her renowned Devil’s in the Details and created specifically for Aligned Pilates. Grounded in the classical tradition, this session studies how movement quality grows through thoughtful progression across levels, apparatus, and spatial orientation. Rather than adding choreography, the focus is on refinement, clarity, and intelligent layering that can change how an exercise feels and the results it produces. Reformer, Mat, and Tower are all part of the curriculum. Participants revisit familiar work through the lenses of organization, sequencing, and the moments between shapes. Students explore fresh nuance as attention shifts to how the body is arranged and how transitions connect each phase of practice. Teachers sharpen observation and purposeful progression so intensity, challenge, and expression arise naturally. Special emphasis is placed on how forms evolve in space, how exercises translate across apparatus, and how transitions become part of the flow instead of a pause between movements. Experience the African American Heritage Trail of Martha’s Vineyard on a guided, narration-rich tour that illuminates the once-overlooked histories and contributions of people of color across the Island. Led by expert guides drawing on original research, the journey features a network of 41 historic sites, including the historic Shearer Cottage, the homes of Dorothy West and George and Carrie Tankard, and landmarks such as Cottagers’ Corner, Overton House, and Eastville Cemetery. The route centers on Oak Bluffs and Edgartown. Proceeds from each ticket help fund community scholarships, student mentorships, and the creation of new trail sites. The meeting point is outside the Steamship Authority terminal in Oak Bluffs, where the tour leader will be near a white van displaying the AAHTMV logo. Founded by Carrie Camillo Tankard and Elaine Cawley Weintraub, the Trail shares the legacies they helped bring to light. Children 12 and under receive half-price admission.

Framed as an evening for men who appreciate depth and distinction, the program centers Black men’s health and wellness while creating space for community, legacy, and growth. Hosted by the Hon. Ludwig Gaines with special invited guests, including Kevan L. Turman, MSR, Vice Chancellor for University Advancement and Executive Director of the WSSU Foundation, and participants connected to Xavier University and The Black Male Initiative, the discussion offers a holistic experience with practical takeaways. Topics include relationships and sex, mental and physical health, family leadership with attention to structure, spirituality, and finances, self care and self love, and a Pour Into You affirmation session. The conversation acknowledges the urgency of mental health and the realities of caregiving, and aims to equip participants with tools they can put into practice. A whiskey tasting table from an HBCU Black woman owned provider complements additional libations, and guests may bring a favorite cigar, with complimentary cigars available while supplies last. At the Oak Bluffs Public Library on Martha’s Vineyard, the second annual State of the HBCUnion Address offers a luncheon and awards program with time for networking, a moderated conversation, and a closing mixer. Planned for the Big Meeting Room, with the location subject to change, this gathering brings together higher education leaders to explore the political and economic landscape shaping Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Featured voices include Chancellor Bonita Brown of Winston-Salem State University, Chancellor Dr. S. Keith Hargrove Sr. of Elizabeth City State University, Dr. Valerie Kinloch, president of Johnson C. Smith University, President Dr. Jonathan K. Jefferson of Roxbury Community College, and President Dr. Makola M. Abdullah of Virginia State University. The discussion is moderated by Susan Taylor Batten, president and CEO of ABFE and a Fisk and Howard alumna. A highlight of the program is a new collaboration between Johnson C. Smith University and Roxbury Community College. Through a formal agreement, students who complete two years at Roxbury Community College can follow clear transfer pathways to finish their degrees at Johnson C. Smith University, with additional opportunities for faculty exchanges and the development of satellite programs that expand access, spark innovation, and deepen support across both institutions. Conversation pillars include achievements such as rising interest and enrollment across multiple HBCUs, fundraising that strengthens scholarships and campus infrastructure, and expanded academic offerings supported by corporate partnerships that open doors to internships and careers. At Union Chapel, HBCU Arts partners with Castle of our Skins for a chamber music program that honors the creativity of Black composers and performers. The artist lineup features soprano Dr. Jolie Rocke, mezzo-soprano Inayah Raheem, tenor Avid Williams, violinists Mina Lavcheva and Lilit Hartunian, violist Jason Amos, cellist Richard Jimenez, and pianist Sarah Ruff. Music from the Blacknificent 7 Composer Collective is at the heart of the evening, showcasing works by Jessie Montgomery, Jasmine Arielle Barnes, Shawn Okpebholo, Damien Geter, Dave Ragland, Joel Thompson, and Carlos Simon. The program also includes the world premiere of A Song for Humanity by emerging composer Jaylin Vinson, a commission realized through the collective with support from the American Composers Forum’s Recomposing America initiative. That initiative is a multi year effort that commissions new works, builds collaborations, and fosters public dialogue to share perspectives from across the United States and the broader Americas, timed to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence to reconsider the nation’s stories and who tells them. The 22nd Annual Provincetown Jazz Festival celebrates Cape Cod’s longest-running jazz tradition with a program designed to shine. Brazilian-born, New York-based vocalist Jamile makes her Cape Cod debut alongside the Cape Cod Jazz Quartet, featuring Steve Ahern on trumpet and flute, Fred Boyle on piano, Ron Ormsby on bass, and Bart Weisman on drums. The Quartet begins with a Miles Davis Centennial Tribute, then Jamile steps forward for a set that spans continents and eras. Since 2005, the festival has anchored the region’s jazz scene and has welcomed artists such as Molly Ringwald, Lea DeLaria, Nicki Parrott, Billy Stritch, Rebecca Parris, Evan Christopher, Howard Alden, Greg Abate, and Shawnn Monteiro. Curated by Bart Weisman, the lineup continues to showcase the vitality of jazz, and a portion of proceeds supports Jazz in the Schools to bring music education to young people across the Cape. Similar to CPR, it is a straightforward, life saving approach that does not require prior experience. Participants are prepared to serve as QPR Gatekeepers. They learn to identify when someone may be considering suicide, ask compassionate questions, offer hope, and connect the person with appropriate help. Friends, family members, coworkers, and community members can benefit from these skills, and increased awareness can make a meaningful difference. No professional background is required, only care and willingness to help.

After their Boston debut in 2004, the duo released a harmonia mundi usa recording of Brahms’s Clarinet Sonatas, Op. 120 Nos. 1 and 2, which earned high praise from New York Times classical music editor James Oestreich, who included it among the best of 2008. Clarinetist Jon Manasse is internationally noted for his inspiring artistry, remarkable sound, and charismatic presence. He teaches at The Juilliard School and serves as principal clarinet of the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, the American Ballet Theatre Orchestra, and the Festival Orchestra of Lincoln Center. Pianist Jon Nakamatsu won the Gold Medal at the 1997 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, appears worldwide with leading conductors and orchestras as well as in recital and chamber settings, is a visiting artist at Stanford University and on the faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and served as a judge for the 2025 Van Cliburn Competition.

September 50th Anniversary Cranfest and Craft Fair
Marking its 50th anniversary, this celebration features more than 150 crafters and live performances by local bands on both days. The Wampanoag Nation singers and dancers return to share their traditions. Inside the gym, Junior Crafters are featured, and local cranberry grower Alan Hall presents the history of cranberries. The event also includes amusement rides and games, plus a drone show at Monomoy High School. Please note that the craft fair is fully booked with a lengthy waitlist, and any claims offering vendor spots are not legitimate.
DGZ 501 Singles DC Based BRONZE 40 PPR - 9/19/26
The first fall DGZ 501 singles event is hosted at D.C. Porcelli’s Pizzeria & More. Play uses DartConnect PPR with a 40 PPR cap. The round robin phase is limited to 30 entrants, followed by two knockout brackets. The winners bracket is best of three with a best of five final, and the consolation bracket uses single-leg shootouts until a best of three final. Pre-registration is $25, and day-of entry is $30 if spots remain. All players are expected to keep score, and scorekeepers will be assigned.

Robbie Pate brings voice and piano to Cape Cod for a collaboration with the Cape Cod Jazz Trio. His path spans Brooklyn stages, Tokyo jazz clubs, and major halls such as the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, grounded by studies at Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory and a style that moves easily through jazz, pop, and R&B. Highlights include touring with the Alexey Podymkin Quartet and the Yuki Futami Trio in Japan, appearing at Fenway Park with the Zac Brown Band, holding a residency at Tin Pan Alley in Provincetown, performing with The Matt Savage Groove Experiment, and teaching ensemble musicians at Berklee and the Longy School of Music. On the bandstand with him are Fred Boyle on piano, Ron Ormsby on bass, and Bart Weisman on drums, a frequent organizer of jazz performances on the Cape. The program centers on close-knit interplay between the trio and a versatile guest artist. Tickets are $35, with a $30 rate for members.

The Dolphin Dash 5K road race raises funds to help lower or remove user fees for athletics, the marching band, and color guard at Dennis-Yarmouth High School. A team of volunteers is coordinating the event to support students by working toward the elimination of these costs. Beyond the race, the day shines a light on the Dennis-Yarmouth school community and the positive work happening across its schools, with the goal of growing into a yearly D-Y Day and Showcase Celebration. The Dolphin Dash is part of the Cape Cod Foundation, a licensed 501c3.
