    An die Musik Live hosts award winning saxophonist and composer Stephen Philip Harvey with his trio SPH+2 in a celebration of their second album, Golden Hour. The lineup features Harvey on saxophone with Mike Graham on bass and Jordon Stanley on drums. The program blends original pieces developed during a residency at the Golden Hour Rum Room in Saint Michaels, Maryland with selections from the Library Card and Residence suites. Golden Hour is the ninth entry in Harvey’s discography and follows his large ensemble recording Multiversal: Live at Bop Stop, continuing his exploration of music that brings together jazz, cinematic storytelling, and contemporary Black American traditions. As a bandleader, he leads ensembles ranging from a jazz orchestra and an octet to an electronic quintet and this trio, and his work has been performed internationally and highlighted in publications such as DownBeat and Jazz’n’more. In person tickets are $25, with a $10 rate for students, and each attendee receives access to a concert recording for one week after the performance. Streaming passes are $15. Donations are welcome.

    A guitarist with two GRAMMY nominations, Jonathan Butler brings a lifetime of music to the stage as a Billboard chart-topping singer-songwriter. Raised in South Africa during apartheid, he became the first non-white performer heard on South African radio and seen on national television, and Nelson Mandela credited Butler’s music as a source of inspiration while imprisoned. Discovered at thirteen by producer Clive Caulder and signed to Jive Records, he broke racial barriers with an early single that earned the South African equivalent of a GRAMMY. His self-titled debut album received a GRAMMY nomination for the pop hit Lies, the instrumental Going Home brought another nomination, and the ballad Sarah, Sarah cemented his standing in popular music. In 2025, Stellenbosch University in South Africa awarded him an Honorary Doctorate in Philosophy. Please note that Keystone Kards are not accepted for this show.
