Castle Rat brings the Summoning the Beasts Tour to Baltimore Soundstage with Unto Others and Wraith Knight also on the lineup. This all-ages show gathers three bands on one stage for a high-energy night of live music.

Settle into a midday groove with Jesse Powers Jr. and his band. Jesse launched his professional career in 1971 by volunteering for the U.S. Army as a euphonium and trombone player during the draft and the Vietnam War. Early in his service he taught himself electric bass in 1973 to strengthen his unit’s big band. The first 15 years of his career were spent performing with a variety of Army ensembles. In 1986 he joined the U.S. Army Field Band in Washington, D.C., serving with the Office of the Chief of Public Affairs for the next 19 years until retirement. He continues to refine a broad repertoire and sustain a long-running musical career. His tours have reached every state, including Alaska and Hawaii, and international stops in Portugal, Mexico, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Cuba, and Nicaragua. Influenced by many artists across genres and guided by a lifelong passion for the spirit of music, he also shares a message about finding peace through personal choice and taking action.

Rotimi, the Nigerian American singer, songwriter, actor, and producer, blends R&B with Afrobeats and dancehall into a sound recognized around the world. He first became widely known on screen with standout turns in Boss, Power, and The Chi before shifting his focus to music. His track In My Bed featuring Wale earned Platinum certification and appeared on the Billboard Mainstream R&B chart, and his catalog includes additional Platinum and Gold successes. In 2021 he released his debut album, All or Nothing, a soulful and assured snapshot of his growth. Deltron 3030 brings together Del The Funkee Homosapian, Dan The Automator, and Kid Koala for a live performance. This show welcomes all ages.

The fifth annual gathering for Irish tenor banjo enthusiasts returns to Baltimore with a full slate of music, learning, and community. Three featured instructors, Clíodhna Costello, Simon Lace, and Dan Neely, lead the banjo focus, while visiting musicians offer four non-banjo options with Pádraig Ó Dubhgaill on guitar, Kate Spanos teaching sean nós and old style dance, Noah Kelly on fiddle, and Diarmuid Ó Meachair on accordion. The event opens with a public concert at Creative Alliance showcasing sets by Clíodhna Costello with Pádraig Ó Dubhgaill, Dan Neely with Diarmuid Ó Meachair and Matt Mulqueen, and Simon Lace with Eamon Sefton and Noah Kelly, followed by late night sessions. The next day features daytime banjo workshops where participants rotate among the instructors so everyone studies with each teacher. Sessions run throughout the day and vendors are on hand in the main room for those who prefer a flexible pace. Non-banjo classes are scheduled during the three banjo class slots and can be taken instead of, or alongside, the banjo workshops. After the course blocks, everyone gathers in the theater for a performance and presentation by Dan Neely, Diarmuid Ó Meachair, and Matt Mulqueen on the music of the Flanagan Brothers, early pioneers of Irish tenor banjo recordings. The evening brings the Baltimore Ceili for social dancing, followed by a large session where players are welcome to bring instruments.

Set in the Greenmount West neighborhood, this free, family friendly celebration spotlights rhythm, culture, and community. The program begins with a Homa fire ceremony and a sound bath, then continues with live performances across three stages, the Grove, Street, and Community. Expect drum circles and open jams, hands on workshops for all experience levels, and a dedicated area where kids can explore crafts and music. A marketplace features handmade goods, fashion, jewelry, and instruments, while food vendors offer plenty of choices, including vegetarian and vegan options. Attendees may bring a drum and use a convenient Drum Check area. The festival takes place rain or shine. It is a short walk from Penn Station and Collegetown Shuttle routes, and street parking is available nearby. For more than two decades, the Baltimore Rhythm Festival has welcomed people of all ages to share creativity and connection, and all performances and workshops are free and open to everyone.

The program caters to dancers of all experience levels, with friendly guidance available to help first-timers learn the sets and keep everyone moving to the rhythm. Live music comes from Laura Byrne, Billy McComiskey, and Matt Mulqueen Friends. The afternoon also includes a performance by the Tír na nÓg dance group and showcases from BIMS students. Soda and water will be available, and attendees may bring a snack to share along with their preferred beer or wine.

Goodbye Vienna performs beside the harbor in Baltimore, bringing a lighthearted vibe to the waterfront. The show takes place at Waterfront Hotel Bar, with a playful nod to any off notes and the water close by.
