The Pocket hosts a songwriter night featuring Amy Jay, Remi Goode, and Eli Lev in a round style performance where the artists take turns sharing original music up close. New York City indie folk artist Amy Jay is on the road with her album Mnemonics, released on Mother West and streamed over a million times. After headlining across the Northeast, she returns to the DMV with songs that are thoughtfully written and emotionally resonant. Nashville’s Remi Goode, whose background spans classical guitar and choral music, is touring her debut album. She pairs a clear voice with the warm tone of a nylon string guitar, creating an intimate sound noted by Glide Magazine. Listeners who enjoy Madison Cunningham, Suzanne Vega, or Phoebe Bridges may find her set especially appealing. Triple Wammie Award winner Eli Lev aims to bring people closer through song. His writing draws on travel and self discovery to deliver heartfelt, grounded music. He describes his style as Indie Folk Poptimism, offering an uplifting and approachable blend with emotional connection. Fans of Noah Kahan, Jason Mraz, and Jack Johnson may be particularly interested. Charli XCX takes the stage at Capital One Arena in Washington, DC with an adrenaline-fueled pop set that blends club-centric production and a commanding live presence. Martin Sexton is celebrating 25 years of Live Wide Open with a tour that honors his acclaimed live album, presented as a double vinyl release. The performance features favorite songs from that record along with new material and a few unexpected covers. His live shows have earned wide recognition, with Billboard praising his authenticity, Rolling Stone noting his deeply soulful voice, and the Wall Street Journal highlighting the powerful emotions his concerts evoke. The Met: Live in HD opens its season with Mozart’s Così fan tutte, a playful look at the whims of young love. Phelim McDermott’s production sets the story amid a 1950s Coney Island inspired boardwalk amusement park, where two couples face heart testing twists against a carnival backdrop. Soprano Federica Lombardi and mezzo-soprano Samantha Hankey sing Fiordiligi and Dorabella, with tenor Duke Kim and baritone Andrey Zhilikhovsky as Ferrando and Guglielmo. Bass-baritone Gerald Finley once again takes on Don Alfonso, and soprano Ana María Martínez appears as the maid Despina. The presentation runs about 3 hours and 57 minutes, includes one intermission, and is performed in Italian. A Live in HD season package offers eight operas for the price of seven, with senior and adult packages available online and student packages available by calling the box office. Individual tickets are priced at $23 for seniors, $25 for adults, and $15 for students, and children 8 and under are free, with fees additional. Jo Ann Kulesza, retired music director of Opera Programs at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, will be in the theater for a preview and discussion of the day’s opera, sharing extensive knowledge and firsthand experience.
