On First Fridays from April through December, downtown Easton galleries open their doors with debuting shows, chances to meet artists, and other creative highlights.

FOP Lodge #3 presents an annual oyster dinner and benefit auction at Felton Community Fire Company, Inc. Green Gavel Auction will serve as the auctioneer. The meal features oysters and chicken salad prepared by the Felton Auxiliary. After dinner, attendees can take part in a live auction, a silent auction, and raffles. The Pony Express Speed Show Series marks 50 years with a charitable celebration featuring Speed Show #6 and five speed classes. Designed for ages 16 and up, this hands-on service project teaches how to turn plastic bags into plarn, then use it to create mats for people experiencing homelessness. Over the past seven years, Bags2Mats volunteers have prepared plarn, crocheted, and gifted more than 4,000 mats statewide. The program is led by the State Office of Volunteerism and Volunteer Delaware 50+. Dutchman's Chainsaw Challenge brings together Professional and Master level chainsaw carvers from the Eastern United States to compete for top prizes and the Dutchman's Chainsaw Challenge title. Taking place at Tractor Supply, the site hums with saws and the scent of fresh-cut wood as artists transform logs into striking sculptures in real time. Highlighted as part of the Waterfowl Festival, it showcases impressive craftsmanship and live carving in a vibrant, art-forward setting. Proceeds support the artists and Chesapeake Creative Wellness of Easton, which uses music and the creative arts to help adults living with PTSD and anxiety, while building awareness and reducing stigma for veterans, survivors of violence, first responders, medical staff, and others.

At the Waterfowl Festival, the Chesapeake Mermaid presents a lively program of stories, music, and movement that celebrates the Chesapeake Bay. Audience members of all ages can meet her wildlife friends, learn simple sign language inspired by bay creatures, and take part in an interactive storytime that sparks curiosity and imagination. After the program, families can enjoy Mermaid Moments for personal interactions and photos. Performances are hosted at Talbot County Free Library, with themed sessions that include The Last Bivalvian, Giants of the Bay, and Century Island. Attendees can also pick up storybooks and activity books to continue the adventure at home.
