Cabin Fever Play Centre hosts a morning of active fun for homeschool families. Spend a day circling a 2.8 mile loop at Terrapin Nature Area during an 8 hour endurance run where participants choose their own pace and distance. The route moves counterclockwise, includes a brief stretch of soft sand on each lap, and starts and finishes in front of the Ranger’s office. After every lap, runners check in with the lap counter so results and rewards can be tracked. Each participant receives a stocking, and a new surprise is added to it with every completed circuit. At the end of the event, runners take home everything they have collected along with a special check out gift. The top male and female with the most laps earn awards. Support along the way includes a well supplied aid station at the start and finish offering water, sports drink, and a variety of snacks. There is ample space to set up a personal rest or aid area, and facilities include full service restrooms near the start and finish plus several porta potties on the course. The event welcomes friendly competition as well as personal challenges and a spirit of camaraderie. Registration is limited to 100 participants. This run also supports local causes. Participants are asked to bring an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots, and cash donations will benefit Haven Ministries Emergency Food Bank. Haven Ministries operates two food pantries configured like grocery stores so clients can select what they need, with food provided through community donations and purchases through the Maryland Food Bank. Sponsorships from local businesses and organizations are invited to help make a positive impact for children and families through these charities.
