Tending the Seams : Slow Stitch with Yin Yoga

An invitation to slow the pace and care for the ties between body and fabric, thread and breath, memory and muscle. Co-hosted by Sue of Give Rise Studio and Quilting Julia, this workshop blends slow stitching with yin yoga as complementary ways to cultivate patience, presence, and care. It begins with guided slow stitch instruction from Quilting Julia, easing into techniques until the hands find a steady rhythm, with an emphasis on process rather than perfection. The session then transitions into yin yoga with Sue, settling into stillness so connective tissue, fascia, and the nervous system can release at their own pace. Participants may continue stitching in comfortable shapes when supportive, or set stitching aside when a pose asks for full attention. The focus is on tending to sensation and breath without rushing to change anything, letting each stitch mark a pause and a moment of care. You leave with a stitched piece that carries a moment, a memory, or an intention, along with a tangible sense of gentle support. No previous experience with stitching or yoga is required. Move or rest according to your needs.

Man of La Mancha

Enter a prison cell during the Spanish Inquisition, where Miguel de Cervantes defends his life and art by staging the story of Don Quixote. With the steadfast Sancho at his side, the would-be knight sets out to revive chivalry and pursue truth and beauty, while the line between reality and imagination grows thin. This Tony Award-winning musical by Dale Wasserman brings Cervantes’ classic to the stage with a score that includes Dulcinea and The Impossible Dream. It delves into courage, hope, and idealism, encouraging reflection on a world envisioned as it should be. The performance takes place in the smaller black box theater at New Spire Arts.
