    Sacred Resonance

BrandArtYoga (BAY), 227 N Market St, Frederick · verified Sep 13
    See details

Immerse in a restorative journey that blends gentle meditation, supported yoga, intuitive Reiki, Yoga Nidra, and the live pulse of the didgeridoo, guided by Luz Brand-Lopez and Pitz Quattrone. The setting invites quiet, care, and ancient sound to support whole-person renewal. The experience opens with a soft, guided arrival into the present. Participants then settle into restful, propped postures using blankets, bolsters, and other supports so the body can let go. While you rest, Luz offers intuitive Reiki, a light-touch Japanese practice that encourages ease and supports the body’s natural capacity for balance. Throughout, Pitz fills the room with the resonant tones of the didgeridoo, an ancient wind instrument with deep roots in Aboriginal Australian culture, creating a steady, grounding soundscape. A dynamic exchange between energy work and sound sits at the center of the experience. As Reiki is offered, the didgeridoo is drawn closer to areas that may benefit from additional vibration, forming a real-time dialogue among energy, tone, and stillness. Because this process is intuitive, each gathering unfolds uniquely. The journey concludes with Yoga Nidra, sometimes called yogic sleep, inviting profound physical rest while awareness remains quietly awake. Whether the intention is stress relief, deep rest, emotional steadiness, or a quiet pause, this space brings movement, sound, energy, and silence into harmony. To mark its launch, the offering is available at an introductory price of $35. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat if you have one, an extra blanket, and water. Arrive as you are, and plan to leave grounded, renewed, and resonating with a deeper sense of peace.

Edward P. Thomas, Jr. Memorial Swimming Pool, 500 Fleming Ave, Frederick · verified Sep 11
    See details

Gran Fondo Maryland and the Gran Fondo National Championships bring a full day of road cycling to Frederick, Maryland, with three route options for Gran, Medio, and Piccolo riders. The event is open to all, and the championship field and Gran Fondo field start separately. It benefits the Linganore Mountain Bike Team, a high school program. The Gran route features four timed segments, and overall placings are based on the sum of those section times. Age group divisions are offered, with winners jerseys for Gran route age groups and awards and prizes for the 60 mile and 30 mile age group winners. Well stocked aid stations support riders throughout. This is part of the SENA Gran Fondo National Series and blends riding with friends and friendly competition against the clock. A U23 program made possible by Shimano offers the U23byShimano coupon code for eligible riders, including juniors, with eligibility verified by age. Packet pickup allows one rider to collect materials for up to three additional participants by showing their own ID along with a copy of each rider’s photo ID and a statement of permission, which can be presented by text or email. The Gran Fondo National Series Gran route spans approximately 87 miles with more than 10,000 feet of climbing, beginning in historic downtown Frederick and heading into Frederick Municipal Forest for a sustained opening climb. Riders then tackle the punchy ascent of Harp Hill, roll north toward the area around Fort Ritchie, and take on a dynamic third segment known as The Gully of Darius that mixes fast descents, sharp turns, an old bridge crossing, and a final kicker to the top of Hornets Nest Road. A scenic untimed stretch winds through Catoctin Mountain National Park before the toughest test of the day, an extended segment across the ridge on Gambrill Park Road through Frederick Watershed and into Gambrill State Park. A long descent leads back toward the valley and into downtown Frederick for finish line festivities with food and beverages.

    Re-Leaf Agency

New Spire Arts, 1 N Market St, Frederick · verified Sep 13
    See details

Re-Leaf Agency reshapes the stage into a multisensory world where movement, layered sound, spoken word, and expansive video envelop the room. Images of trees, mushrooms, ferns, wildflowers, and running streams span multiple surfaces, drawing focus to small and fragile life and to a sense of refuge. Blurring the line between performance and recruitment session, three Re-Leaf Agents, two dancers and a recruitment officer, frame the experience as an appeal to consider becoming keepers of the good. In the face of democratic strain and a shifting climate, the work turns to the long rhythms of nature to nurture hope. The piece grows from years spent documenting a sliver of land at the edge of Maryland’s South Mountain, where MAD Dance director Kit Clark found calm in non-human time while walking and observing the terrain. Clark performs with dancers Amanda Comi and Jeanna Riscigno, sharing that experience through movement and media. Presented as part of New Spire Arts programming at New Spire Stages in Downtown Frederick, MD, the intimate setting supports a close, memorable encounter with the work.
