Anything Goes (2022 Revision)

The 2022 revision of Anything Goes delivers Cole Porter’s classic shipboard comedy with invigorated dance sequences and a refreshed script. Aboard the S.S. American, stowaway Billy Crocker schemes to win heiress Hope Harcourt from her proper fiancé, aided by nightclub star Reno Sweeney and the endearingly hapless gangster “Moonface” Martin. The score features beloved standards such as You’re the Top and the title number. This edition is adapted from the 1987 Broadway revival originally produced by Lincoln Center Theater. It features music and lyrics by Cole Porter, an original book by P. G. Wodehouse and Guy Bolton with Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, and a new book by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman. The production is presented under arrangement with Concord Theatricals, representing Tams-Witmark LLC. The dinner theatre experience has been updated to feature a curated reception before the show in place of the previous buffet. Guests can look forward to a well considered assortment of hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, with dessert and coffee or tea served at intermission. This approach offers a more current and flexible format while directing more support to student programs and productions.

ADRIFT | A Medieval Wayward Folly, July 16 - Aug 2

Happenstance Theater brings a medieval wayward folly to Round House Theatre, a comic and poetic voyage with a band of castaways searching for what comes next after an apocalypse. Drawing on the fantastical worlds of Hieronymus Bosch and the symbolism of the tarot, the production blends live music, physical comedy, puppetry, and precise stagecraft to create a vivid theatrical tapestry. Medieval imagery threads through the performance, including a hellmouth, demons, and angels, as these eccentrics share hopes and fears and chart a path forward. Performed by Mark Jaster, Sabrina Mandell, Gwen Grastorf, Sarah Olmsted Thomas, and Alex Vernon. The work has earned praise from DC Theater Arts, Talkin’ Broadway, and The Observer, and the company’s artistry has been recognized by Washington City Paper and The Washington Post. The performance runs approximately 80 minutes. Adult tickets are $40, and tickets for ages 18 and under are $20.

Aerial Yoga Foundations

This beginner friendly workshop at Flying Buddha Studio introduces the aerial hammock as a supportive prop and builds a solid foundation for safe, confident practice. Participants learn key terminology, wrist wraps, proper hammock placement, introductory inversions, and essential safety guidelines. The session also explains how the studio’s different aerial yoga class formats compare so attendees can choose the best next step. Completion of this workshop is required before enrolling in other aerial yoga classes at the studio. Enrollment is limited to 12 participants, so early registration is encouraged. Pricing is $55 without a hammock rental or $65 with a rental. A new student special bundles the foundations workshop with two additional aerial classes for $95, and this bundle does not include hammock rental. A rental is required when using studio hammocks to support sanitizing after each use. Participants may purchase their own hammock, with payment plans available. If bringing personal equipment not purchased at the studio, an instructor will evaluate it for safety, and only climbing rated gear is permitted. Alternate scheduling and private one on one or private group sessions can be arranged if the standard times do not work.

Grandmasters, International Masters, and FIDE Masters may enter at no cost when meeting event conditions, must play all four rounds, and are not permitted byes or withdrawal. In some cases $20 is deducted from any prize for titled players. Players may request up to two half point byes if they are set before round two. Participation is capped at 50 players. Once the first round is paired or begins there are no refunds or credits, and no shows forfeit entry fees. On site registration can lead to an automatic first round bye or unusual pairings. Iryna Bilyk

Iryna Bilyk, a landmark figure in Ukrainian pop, brings a performance to the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre in Rockville that showcases her many gifts as a singer, songwriter, composer, poet, and captivating stage presence. By turns bold, high energy, and deeply moving, yet always genuine, passionate, and tender, she draws from a timeless songbook that has accompanied generations through both heady romance and heartbreak. Expect uplifting melodies that spur big feelings alongside gentle pieces that soothe and restore. Her work feels ageless as times change, and her unguarded lyrics continue to resonate on a profoundly personal level with listeners.

The Waiting Room - Stage Play

Drawn from a true story, this stage production follows a woman who falls in love with a man in prison and, during her visits, forges unexpected, profound connections with three other women. Shifting the focus away from the incarcerated men, it centers the voices of the women who keep showing up... mothers and daughters, aunts and wives, nieces and partners who travel to see the people they love. The piece blends sharp humor with sadness and everyday truths, offering moments that are provocative, heartfelt and familiar. These portraits of resilience and companionship tend to stay with audiences well after the final scene. The cast and crew are based in the DMV.
