This edition refreshes the book for today’s audiences and places greater emphasis on dance, building on the 1987 Broadway revival produced by Lincoln Center Theater. Music and lyrics are by Cole Porter. The original book was by P. G. Wodehouse and Guy Bolton, with contributions from Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, and the new book is by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman. This production is licensed through Concord Theatricals on behalf of Tams-Witmark LLC. Beloved Porter tunes, including You’re the Top and the title song, propel the voyage. Music and lyrics are by Cole Porter. Original book credits include P. G. Wodehouse and Guy Bolton, as well as Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, with a new book by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman. This version is adapted from the 1987 Broadway revival originally produced by Lincoln Center Theater, and it is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Tams-Witmark LLC. A rating-restricted tournament at Breakers Sky Lounge welcomes competitors who are 599 and under on the day of play. The entry fee is $100, with an optional $50 side pot. The bracket runs as double elimination until the field narrows to the final 16, then it shifts to a redrawn, seeded single-elimination finish. House racks are used and players rack their own with the 1 on the spot and the 2 at the back. Breaks alternate, soft breaking on purpose is not allowed, and an illegal break leads to a re-rack with the next break awarded to the opponent without it counting as a foul. A nine made on the break is immediately spotted. Shots do not need to be called, a push-out is permitted after the break, the three-foul rule is in effect, and jump cues are allowed. A 45-second shot clock may be implemented if needed, and slow play is not permitted. Good sportsmanship is required, and breaking down any cue while an opponent is taking their closing balls results in a forfeit. If a ball is moved and it touches another ball or crosses the current shot line it is a foul, otherwise the opponent may restore it or leave it as is. Handicaps use 30-point gaps. Even races begin at 5 for players in the 500s, 4 for those in the 400s, and 3 for those in the 300s. The largest spot is 8–4, or 7–3 if one player is in the 300s, and the lowest race allowed is 3–3 for lower rated players only. A minimum robustness of 200 is required, and the tournament director may assign a rating or decline entry. No outside food or drinks are permitted.

From Basic to Wow! is a focused West Coast Swing workshop led by Masters and All Star instructor Adela Su. Designed for dancers who already have strong fundamentals, it explores how to transform core patterns into more advanced, engaging movement that stands out in competition and enhances partnership. Expect to build from pushes such as front and sugar tucks, passes like the spinning side pass and passing tuck, and the whip, with practical ways to add nuance and polish. The format aligns with prior Masters workshops presented at Swing Fling, DCSX, MADjam and Michigan Classic events. The room is the Rockbridge Ballroom, and the schedule and location are subject to change. Although created with Masters dancers ages 50 and up in mind, the material is applicable to everyone and IDs will not be checked. Coffee and a gluten free breakfast treat will be available in limited quantities. About the instructor: Adela Su is a Masters and All Star dancer and competitor who has taught in Charlottesville and Central Virginia for more than 25 years with a focus on technique and drills. Along with her husband Eddie, an Advanced and Masters dancer, she offers private lessons, leads group classes and occasionally hosts social dances. At The Open Swing Dance Championships in 2022, they received the first Masters Community Inspiration Award. Adela is a GPDIA certified instructor and judge, a long time volunteer with the Charlottesville Swing Dance Society, and a volunteer with the World Swing Dance Council in multiple committee roles. She studies with top professionals and brings that training into her teaching.

Rockville Chess Club presents a four round tournament that requires an active USCF membership. Play is organized into three sections with additional class awards. The Premier section includes extra prizes for U1700 and U1500. The U1200 section includes an extra U1000 award, and the U900 section includes an extra U600 award. Prizes are contingent on a field of 50 fully paid entries, with the Premier awarding $150 for first place and $100 for second, plus $60 for U1700 and $50 for U1500. The U1200 and U900 sections each award $50 for first, $40 for second, and $30 for their listed class prizes. Grandmasters, International Masters, and FIDE Masters may be eligible for free entry under specific conditions, and must complete all four rounds without byes or withdrawal. Early entry is discounted for club members and non members, with a regular entry fee thereafter. Club members should bring their membership card for verification. Up to two half point byes may be requested as long as they are set before the second round begins. The field is capped at 50 players. Once the first round is paired or underway, entry fees are nonrefundable and no shows forfeit their fees. On site signups may receive an automatic first round bye or atypical pairings. A first round forfeit results in withdrawal unless cleared with the tournament director in advance. Chess sets are provided, although clocks may be limited, so players are encouraged to bring one. Tiebreaks follow USCF preference using Modified Median, Solkoff, Cumulative, and Opposition Cumulative Score. Electronic devices are tightly regulated. A device that is on or that makes a sound results in forfeiture. A device that is off can trigger an initial penalty limited to half of the remaining clock, with a second offense leading to forfeiture. Free parking is available behind the church.

Points from this race count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack Series, as well as the Summer Series. A virtual option is available for runners who prefer to participate remotely. Participants receive chip timing, a finisher medal, and a technical event shirt. Water stations are placed along the route, with Gatorade available at some stops, and restrooms are located near the start and finish and within the park. Battle of the DMV - Team 8B event (TWO-DAY EVENT)
Breakers Sky Lounge hosts a two-day 8B team competition for DMV-USAPL players, featuring structured group play followed by a single elimination finish. Teams carry five players, with four competing in each team match, and the four-player lineup must stay within a 1900 Fargo cap. Entry is $600 per team and includes a $40 greens fee. The field is limited to 32 teams. Rosters and prepayment are required to secure a spot, and all entry fees are due by the event’s stated cutoff. Fargo ratings lock at that deadline, and late roster changes after that point carry a $20 fee. Players with fewer than 200 recorded games may be reviewed by the tournament director. Day 1 is group play. Each team plays four matches, with optional side pots available. Individual matchups consist of three games using USAPL scoring, with up to 42 points available for a three-game sweep. Handicaps are determined by the USAPL race calculator and are applied after each team match. The top two finishers in each group qualify for Day 2. Day 2 is single elimination, beginning with a Calcutta. A separate side pot includes all Day 2 teams and pays the top two. Matches follow full USAPL race formats. No roster changes are allowed between Day 1 and Day 2. If teams are tied after four sets, the winner is decided by a Team Sudden Death shoot off using spot shots by every player who participated in the match. With a full field, payouts go to the top eight teams, totaling $17,920, and all payout figures and the number of teams paid are based on a complete bracket.
