The crowd gathers around the tree at sunset, and cookies from the Waldo County Technical Center add a sweet treat to the evening. After nightfall, Santa and Mrs. Claus ride in on a Belfast Fire Department fire engine to greet hundreds of children and adults. The celebration builds to a countdown from 10, then the tree bursts into light.
