    Carole Wise

Freeport · Cadenza, 5 Depot St

Carole Wise, a singer and songwriter from Maine, brings reflective storytelling and an inviting sound. Her guitar and mandolin work blends fine detail with an easy clarity, while her lyrics feel personal yet widely resonant. She writes about love and loss, social questions, and the search for self, and she often finds a hopeful thread that points toward growth. Many songs begin as a felt response to a quiet moment outdoors or a release of deep emotion, then take shape with crisp meaning that reaches from one life to many. Listeners often recognize their own journeys in her music. It can feel like catching the right song at the right time, and hearing her in person deepens that connection. Career highlights include The Long Way Home reaching the top 20 on Folk radio, extensive touring across states such as California, Maryland, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maine, Colorado, and Utah, and an opening appearance for Vance Gilbert at the Troubadour in Morristown, New Jersey. She later released the single In My Hometown in response to the tragedy in Lewiston, Maine, her hometown, followed by the album North Star.

Enjoy a playful blend of gentle yoga and quality time with friendly goats. This all-levels, beginner-friendly class is led by Ashley Flowers and includes goats of various sizes mingling around the mats. Signet Ring Wax Carving Two-Day Workshop

Yarmouth · Artascope Studios, 138 Bayview Street

Explore the time honored art of wax carving in a two day signet ring workshop. The first session is a full day devoted to designing, laying out, and carving your ring in wax, with several shapes to choose from. Three weeks later, a half day follow up focuses on cleaning and finishing your piece after it has been cast in silver or brass. Along the way you will learn wax carving fundamentals, safe and effective tool use, and finishing techniques. Casting is handled off site between classes, and no prior metalsmithing experience is required. Tuition covers 9 hours of instruction and materials are not included. Non members $175, members $140. Expect an additional kit fee estimated at $40 to $80, which varies with ring size, metal choice, and the number of rings made, and final costs may change with metals market conditions. The first session includes a one hour lunch break. The studio closes during that time, and participants can relax in nearby parks or visit local restaurants. This workshop is for adults. Please get in touch directly for information about metalsmithing options for teens. The instructor, Carly, brings more than a decade of professional jewelry experience. After learning fabrication and repair as a bench jeweler, she launched Flux Jewelry Studio in 2018 and spent a year in Florence, Italy studying gemology, wax carving, rendering, and stone setting. Her approach draws on techniques and engraved details passed down through traditional Italian metalsmithing. In her Westbrook, Maine studio she handcrafts pieces by twisting fine wires, forming tiny metal beads, and engraving each design, blending old world methods with classic inspirations. For safety, wear closed toe shoes and tie back long hair.
